GENERAL INFORMATION

Confirmations

You will receive an automatically generated email confirmation within 24 hours of your registration. This confirms that we have received and processed your registration and you are confirmed in the class you’ve requested. After this, our policy is “No News is Good News,” so if you don’t hear from us again, please attend class. You may also receive another email 8-12 days before the first class date with information on location, any pre-work required for the class, or communication related to the class.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel: Please notify COCC by phone or email at least two weeks prior to the first session and we will remove you from the class. If you need to cancel after the two-week deadline, please contact us right away, as we may have a wait list and can fill your spot with someone who would like to attend. If we cannot fill your space, we will charge your organization for your registration. Substitutions are welcome, so we encourage you to find a colleague who can attend in your place if you need to cancel within two weeks of the class start date. If you do find a replacement, please contact us to make the change in our registration system. We will need the registration information for the person taking your place.

If we need to cancel: All courses are subject to having sufficient enrollment two weeks from the first class date. If we find that enrollment is low, we may need to cancel the class. In this case, you will be contacted by COCC’s customer service team by phone and/or email notifying you of the cancellation at least ten days prior to the first session.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Learning OpportunitiesThe public sector employers participating in this training partnership have established DEI learning opportunities as a high priority within their organizations. In our rapidly changing cultural landscape, the diverse needs of those we serve may change and leave us unprepared. As our communities in Central Oregon become more diverse, with growing racial, socio-economic, gender, faith-based, and cross-cultural groups, we need to know how to step up and support our constituents’ needs in new ways. These experiential DEI-focused courses include both individual and team-based activities.

DEI Leadership for Change

This series of four sessions over two months will guide leaders at any level through a series of linked, educational and applied experiences to explore Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) within your workplace/team. Using a DEI framework tool, leaders will employ an equity-based process to study and evaluate a work project, procedure, report or policy. Explore personal and institutional bias, stereotypes, privilege and oppression while using guided strategies including a needs assessment, project development, and evaluation process. Through this process, you will learn how to successfully implement and share DEI-based strategies for change.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: To deepen the learning and on-the-job application, pre- and post-session assignments are included throughout the Series. Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is based on the set of behavioral skills that enable us to consistently engage, influence and motivate ourselves and one another. Team members with high emotional intelligence are more successful and more resilient than those who are only technically qualified. EI is based on such competencies as respecting yourself, persistently working to achieve your full potential, valuing and motivating others, and engaging creatively when conflict happens. Best of all, because emotional intelligence is learned, we can gain new, more effective skills, eliminate ones that aren't working, and learn to do the things we already do well even better!
