Needs

We have a treasure trove of human talent buried within our school community!

-teachers & staff -parents -students -community members

WE MUST USE THEM!

Goals

1. Create a parent/teacher action committte, focused on increasing parent involvement, to enhance student achievement AND a positive school culture

2. Provide Parent and Teacher educational opportunities3. Plan and create greater learning experiences for students through community involvement

Impact on Student Achievement

REASEARCH Shows...

Students have higher grades, better attendance, increased self-esteem, and fewer behavior problems

Schools with on-going & inclusive parent programs are more effective than schools without such programs

Parental & Community Involvement

Parent Leaders will perform specific duties as outlined by the committee, such as: parent education coordinators, community liaisons, program evaluation teams, public relations, parent/teacher liaisons, funding coordinators, ect.

A primary responsibility of the committee will be to build mutually supportive alliances with people, businesses, and community based organizations within the area.

Timeline

Evaluation of Goals

Documents and PTAC artifacts will be collected to verify volume of parent and community member participation, new initiatives created, and educational topics presented

Interviews and Focus Group questioning, along with beginning, middle, and end of the year surveys, will be conducted throughout the year in order to immediately address weaknesses
