Problem Statement: How can we discover what an undergraduate want and can do in professional life early?*After some feedback and thinking a little I decided to keep a leaner Problem Statement.

Ideas selected:

○ Monitored visits to companies

○ Games of virtual reality to simulate the day-to-day in different types of companies.

Prototype 1The first idea was changed to become a more practical and accessible idea:

● Short description: Monitored visits to different companies recorded in 3D videos to watch on 3D TVs at school or at home.

Prototype 1

● Target audience: High school students, undergraduates

● Characteristics:

○ Short videos based on processes related to the specific professions

○ Show these videos during classes making (or not) links with the disciplines studied

○ Show the videos based on students interests too

Page 5: Prototype and test! - Ana Carolina B. Silva

Prototype 1

● Benefits:

○ Abstraction of the importance of disciplines creating more interest of students in classes

○ Greater contact of the students with different professions, helping them to better understand the labor market and discover their skills

○ Accessibility to schools far from major centers

Prototype 2The second idea was changed to become a more practical and accessible idea:

● Short description: Virtual simulation games made in partnership with companies simulating processes specific to certain professions.

Prototype 2

● Target audience: High school students, undergraduates

● Characteristics:

○ Games based on professions where players need to do some tasks in order to advance and earn points

○ They can play at the informatica lab at school or at home in the internet

○ Different levels of difficulty based on age

○ Competitions at school

Prototype 2

● Benefits:

○ Contact of the students with different professions, helping them to better understand the labor market and discover their skills in a funny way

○ More interaction of students in the activity

○ Combine technology, information and learning

Testing

● How: Tests were conducted personally by showing the previous slides of this presentation and talking more about the prototypes, with real examples

● Who: 2 persons

○ Daniel: Computer engineering undergraduate student. Will graduate in the end of 2013

○ Gustavo: High school student. Will graduate in the end of 2014 and is indecisive about the profession he will follow

Prototype 1 - Feedback

● Project will certainly be productive with people of high school

● Even if not the best option for students in major centers, is a good option for students in remote locations

● Show current scenario of the profession (local and global) beyond just the day-to-day processes

● Divide per big areas and assign them to related teachers at school

● Show possible careers of professions

● How to make it more attractive to undergraduate students?

● Will 3D add value to the project or not?

● Make content available to the general public over the internet

● Suggest to schools to bring the professionals to the classroom when possible to add value to the experience

Prototype 2 - Feedback

● Project will certainly be more productive with people of high school

● Interactivity attracts big attention of students

● Include day-to-day activity of the character, beyond just profession processes (like a The Sims)

● How to make it more attractive to undergraduate students?

● Content and execution is decisive to the success of the project

● Make content available to the general public over the internet

● Creation of private sessions to competition of the class at school
