Sport Academy - for both male and female students.In addition to the range of qualifications in sport andphysical education, ARK 6th Form will be offeringstudents the chance to join our Sport Academy.The academy will focus on the achievement ofsporting excellence through the development of skillsand performance in the chosen discipline. Curriculum pathwaysPathway 1

3 or 4 AS Levels: Students who achieve 6 A*- B grades at GCSE (includingEnglish and Mathematics).

These students will take 3 or 4 AS Levels in Year 12,continuing with their strongest 3 or 4 subjects at A2 inYear 13. There will be a focus on selecting a curriculumwith an application to Russell Group universities inmind. These students will also be encouraged toundertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) andCritical Thinking.

Pathway 2

Vocational course (equivalent to 3 A Levels): Students who achieve 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (includingEnglish and Mathematics).

Some students may mix and match a vocational coursewith AS / A Level. This would be agreed as part of afocussed one to one meeting.

All students will be required to re-sit Mathematics andEnglish GCSEs if they have not achieved a grade C or above.

ARK 6th Form students are also expected to make a significantcontribution to the academies and wider community. This mayinclude becoming part of initiatives such as paired reading, inclass support with younger students, as well as leading theschool councils in both academies. We also hope, this year, toget students engaged with an outreach in programme tosupport literacy and other activities in local primary schools.

In addition, students will benefit from the many opportunitiesthat being part of the ARK network offers at sixth form such asmentoring, bursaries and opportunities to visit universities andbusinesses across the country.

All students also follow a programme of enrichment designed to not only develop their life skillsbut increase their appeal as an applicant to university. General Studies or Critical Thinking course toAS Level and opportunities exist for students to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Knowing our studentsARK 6th Form is led by a highly experienced Vice Principal with adedicated team who provide the pastoral and academic supportwhich underpins student progress and achievement.

Students participate in regular progress meetings with their teachersand personal tutor where they receive individual feedback andidentify if any specific actions or interventions are required to movetheir progress forward. Students are encouraged to take greaterresponsibility for their progress at Key Stage 5, but the rigorousacademy monitoring systems ensure that there is no slippage.

The ARK 6th Form team will help students adjust during the toughtransition from Year 11 to 12 and then use their knowledge andexpertise to continue to guide students as they research university,apprenticeship or career options.
