1. Introduction
What is carbon emission? 1. Carbon emissions are
the common type of gas emitted from the burning of fossil fuels.
2. The higher the carbon content in the fossil fuel or the more inefficient the burning process is, generally the more Carbon that is produced.

How is the Emitted Carbon Harmful?
When the CO2 is released into the atmosphere it remains there until it is absorbed in some form.
For example approximately 50% of all CO2 released into the atmosphere is absorbed by the oceans.
The ocean absorbs half of all carbon released into the atmosphere.CO2 absorbs heat waves because they have longer wave lengths than sun light does, thus stopping the heat from being reflected into space.
This is called the "greenhouse effect" and has been linked by scientists to global climate change.

2. Objectives of Low Carbon Transport
Enhancing capacity of cities to improve mobility with lower CO2 emissions.
Gradual reduction in Global Warming and also in fossil fuels.
To bring change in the efficiency of vehicle to reduce carbon content in atmosphere.

Promoting Low Carbon Transport•"Promoting Low-Carbon Transport in India", a major initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), hereafter referred to as the Low Carbon Transport (LCT) project in this presentation
• The overall context in which the Low Carbon Transport project has been undertaken. • India is currently the fourth largest Green House Gases emitter in the world, although its per capita emissions are less than half the world's average.

3. Challenges For Introducing Low Carbon Transport
• Affordability Most elements of the technology are currently more expensive than those they are designed to replace.
Adaptability This is a fast moving space, with rapid developments in technology, specifications, standards and architectures.
Applicability It is essential that the most appropriate low carbon vehicles are selected for particular roles and duty cycles.

Availability There is a high demand for low carbon vehicles. While other are publically or privately preparing low carbon vehicle product lines have yet to come online in large numbers.Action If local authorities do nothing, low carbon vehicles will appear in the community in a haphazard way.By implementing a strategy, authorities can manage their introduction and maximise the associated opportunities

4. Innovative Ways for Carbon Reduction
A range of new and emerging lightweight materials, nearer market hybrid petrol-electric or diesel-electric vehicles
‘‘plug-in’’ hybrids which can be re-charged from the electricity grid.
second generation bio fuels, manufactured from a wide range of biomass sources

Nagpur was the first Indian city which adopted this bus and soon will recommend to higher authority of India.
It can reduce fossil carbon dioxide emission by up to 90%.

Advantages
1. The measures set out in this strategy will ensure that transport makes a major contribution to the India's efforts in reducing CO2 emissions. 2. Before the impact of measures in this strategy are taken into account, our existing policies mean that emissions from transport are projected to be around 15 million tonnes of CO2 lower than they would otherwise have been in 2020.3. On top of this, the further measures set out in this strategy mean that we project to save an additional 17.7 million tonnes of CO2 in 2020, equating to 85 million tonnes of CO2 over the third carbon budget period from 2018-2022

Importance of the project It will reduce the Green House Gas effect. Fossil Fuel based vehicles would be replaced by
electric vehicles. It will help to increase Sustainable development for
future generations. It will also reduce Air pollution.

Conclusion
. Any future transport strategy must consider options for introducing low carbon transport if CO2 targets are to be met, urban air quality improved and our reliance on fossil fuels are reduced.
The low carbon transport domain is new and fast moving. Those with a strong, integrated strategy will lead the way.
It can be thus concluded that after studying about Low Carbon Transport, in order to prevail it, emissions from transport can be reduced by adopting a sustainability approach like use of public transport, higher penetration of bio-fuels, etc in order to move our country to a low-carbon growth path.
