Apparel Magazine Names Promoboxx Clients Timberland and Mizuno Top Marketing Innovators
BOSTON, May 06, 2015 Timberland and Mizuno Running made the Apparel Magazine list of Top Innovators for 2015. The list honors apparel manufacturing brands moving the fashion
industry forward in the areas of marketing and manufacturing.
The winning campaigns, powered by Digital Retail Marketing Platform, Promoboxx, have transformed both brands’ ability to extend their reach by engaging and marketing through
independent retailers.
With Timberland, its efforts on the Hazel Highway campaign won the lifestyle brand industry recognition. For niche audiences (urban and rural), the key to success was telling the
“reinspired,” classic boot collection story in an unexpected way: via mass onetoone
customization of independent retailers’ digital marketing content.
Leveraging Promoboxx, Timberland invited local, independent retailers to promote the
automatically customized Hazel Highway content on key digital channels. The lifestyle brand
further incentivized each retailer to share out Hazel Highway by awarding participating
retailers with local advertising dollars via Promoboxx Match . The advertising dollars were spent on local mobile ads, flighted digitally and in realtime. The ads extended the reach of
Timberland and its niche retailers by 1.3 million consumers over previous efforts.
Timberland’s Director of North America Marketing, Cassie Heppner, comments: “[Promoboxx
and its Match program] is a great way to advertise outside the retail space and reach
consumers on their mobile devices, which is where they’re spending most of their time
anyway.”
Mizuno Running won recognition for its communityfocused What If Everybody Ran
campaign, where via Promoboxx, hundreds of specialty running shops were able to spread
the #IfEverybodyRan message in their local communities. To further inspire, Mizuno created a
mobile app that tracks a user’s run, converting miles to dollars for charity.
Mizuno, leveraging retailer participation for overall gain, experienced, “110 percent growth in
U.S. unique visitors to its website compared to March 2013 traffic, its Facebook followers
increased by more than 25 percent in the first two weeks following the launch of the campaign
and Twitter engagement increased by 121 percent in March 2014 vs. February 2014,” says
Kim Hoey, Mizuno USA’s running division brand marketing director.
“We’re incredibly thrilled to see clients Timberland and Mizuno being honored for their digital
approach to comarketing with local, independent retailers. Both brands are committed to the
success of making their retailers better marketers and in turn creating better business
people,” states Sonciary Honnoll, SVP and CoFounder at Promoboxx.
