VALO 221-UNIT, CLASS-A, MULTIFAMILY PROJECT ARCHITECT: SHALOM BARANES ASSOCIATES CONTRACTOR: CLARK CONSTRUCTION Valo is a 221-unit, multifamily development site located adjacent to the Waterfront Metro station in Southwest, DC. Trammell Crow Company’s High Street Residential subsidiary and its partner, CSG Urban Partners, formed a joint venture with Meadow Partners to redevelop St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Valo is located in the heart of the Southwest Waterfront submarket, one of the most active development markets in the District. The Project benefits from both a strong base of existing amenities, as well as numerous shopping, dining and entertainment options that have either recently delivered, or are under construction. The large government office presence and lack of development sites in more traditional high density areas have helped spur new Class A residential development in this submarket. Located between the Wharf and the Ballpark District, Valo’s residents will be able to walk to two dynamic neighborhoods offering best-in-city retail shopping opportunities, unique open spaces, and regional entertainment draws. At delivery, residents will be able to walk to see the Nationals and DC United play or watch live music at a newly delivered music venue located in the first phase of The Wharf. The Project will be highly amenitized with a large first floor lounge that looks out onto the building’s courtyard, which includes a pet run, a gym with a separate space for yoga and spin classes, bike storage and maintenance room, pet spa, and two elevated amenity spaces. The pool will be located on the ninth floor, with an attached interior lounge and, on the eleventh floor, there will be a second lounge area that opens up to a roof deck designed for more passive outdoor recreation. Valo, when developed, will be the tallest building on the south side of M Street and will afford views of the Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, and Potomac River from its elevated amenity areas. Construction began in Q3 2016 and is expected to complete in Q3 2018. PROJECT SUMMARY
