Target audience: (age range, interests) 

• The target audience for my music magazine is older teens/younger adults, male or female as there is no gender preference in House or Dance music. House music is not mainstream, therefore my target audience is revolting from the crowd. This type of music is perfect for the club/party scene, and therefore is aimed at an audience in their late teens and early 20’s. At this age most people go out and listen to fast powerful music.

Possible title ideas:  

• Acid, Indulgence, Rave Sound, Daze, Viral Sound, Rave

Main image:What will be the focal point of your front page, remember, your work  

•  The main image or focal point for the cover will be a main house artist, a close up image of them in a ‘dance’ atmosphere and wearing exciting and eye-catching clothing/make-up.

• The background and main image will both be complimentary to one another, as not to clash or overcrowd. I think I am going to set it on a black background with neon colours in the text to set a ‘rave’ atmosphere.

Main cover line:What will be the main story? 

• My main story line is going to be an upcoming music festival or concert with leading house artists. It will advertising it and talking about the highlights from last years. It will portray the excitement of house/dance music.

Additional key images:What other images will be on your front cover? 

•  Other images I am not certain on, but they will definitely link to a club scene. Maybe logo’s from house clubs, other artists, and bright coloured lights. Again these photos will compliment the background and image, and will fit the atmosphere of the piece.

Additional cover lines:  

•  Other stories / features will include advertisement (maybe new music gadgets) and offers/competitions. Also another key story could be an interview with a leading house music artist.

Typography: (style, size, colour of copy)Think about the writing and the style of the writing on your front page. 

•  Due to the background being black/neon I don’t want to clash any of the colours so I am to make the text bold and white. The main headline will be larger than any of other text and I am to put it in a different font. All the other text on the front page will be the same font and all headlines will be the same size. Main words shall be in italics. I haven’t decided on a style of font yet, however I quite like ‘Dauen Penh’ which I use d on my reader profile.

Background colour/image: 

•  Like I’ve previously said I hope to make the background black with a few neon lights to set a ‘rave’ like scene, however it won’t be too overpowering as I don’t want to take focus off the main image.

Technical considerations:(equipment, setting, props, costume, lighting)Be realistic and creative, think about what you have access to and how you could use it. 

•  For my main story I will have to use a good quality camera and fitting props/costumes for my main house music act. The lighting will have to be bright and clear to make it look as professional as possible. I will research house music artists to get an idea of what their style is and try and replicate this.

Double Page Spread:(what will be the main article in your magazine?)This will need to be the main story on your cover, what detail will be featured inside?

•  The main article in my magazine is going to be upcoming music festival or concert with leading house artists. It will advertising it and talking about the highlights from last years. It will portray the excitement of house/dance music. It will also include a small interview with the leading act and details of what they’re going to perform and any hints about what’s going to come.
