DESCRIPTION: The Project Management certificate is designed for students or professionals pursuing additional skills and knowledge in Project Management concepts and techniques. The program is based on the most current Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) used by industry. Ancillary courses in interpersonal skills and business ethics assist development of skills based on the Project Management Talent Triangle as prescribed by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This curriculum is validated by professionals in the field and taught by instructors with the Project Management Professional (PMP) or other PMI industry designations. Students may apply the coursework toward educational requirements to sit for exams to earn the Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications. For more information, see cscc.edu/business. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Students must place into ENGL 0190, have prior college level English credits, or secure permission of the Program Coordinator. ONGOING REQUIREMENTS: Students must maintain the minimum overall GPA required by the College. Project Management Certificate 2018–2019 OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES: Career: Completion of this certificate will provide a strong educational credential recognizing the student’s expertise in Project Management. Students may use this credential to gain experience at managing projects in many business environments including health care, manufacturing, and service industries as well as seek industry recognized certifications. Professionals currently managing projects may use this credential as a stepping stone to further their careers, earn industry recognized certifications or maintain their current credentials. Project managers are in high demand across many industries and common position titles could include Project Coordinator, Project Assistant, Project Manager, or PMO Executive. Transfer: Courses in this program may be applied to the Associate Degree of Applied Science in Business Management at Columbus State or transferred to a four-year institution such as Franklin University, Ohio University, or Ohio Dominican University.
