When water becomes warm enough it evaporates as vapor
(invisible water) in the air. Once the water has evaporated, itrises up in the sky and forms clouds. When the clouds becomeheavy with water vapor, droplets are formed and rain falls!

Wind is simply air in motion! It is caused by the
uneven heating of the earths surface from the sun.
Wind is a very useful source of electricity. It is usuallythe cheapest form of power!
Wind is measured in knots.

What is a tornado?o A tornado is a rotating column of air that extends from high in the sky
to the ground.
How does a tornado form?o Tornadoes form from thunderstorms. Thunderstorms develop when
warm, moist air rises and then cools. Clouds are then created when
water vapor condenses and releases heat. This release of heatcreates the energy in a thunderstorm. Under certain conditions, whenthe air moving up into the clouds is very strong, a tornado candevelop.

Hurricanes begin as thunderstorms out on the ocean, usually far from land. Theygain power by traveling over the warm sea water and taking in moist air from thesurface of the ocean and releasing cooler air above. As the air rises, it createsstorm clouds and rain. More moist air comes up from the surface of the ocean. This cycle of moving air and heat in the atmosphere makes the winds rotate. Windsat the surface rotate and increase speed. Strong winds at the top, where the air isreleased, keep circulating at the same speed. This keeps the hot air out of the
center (the eye) of the hurricane and the moist air keeps rising.
