RBI MENTORSHIP BASEBALL LEAGUE (CO-ED) | MAY 2020 – AUGUST 2020Ages 10-16Various City of Raleigh Parks

The Raleigh Police Department RBI Mentorship Baseball League is for 10-16 year old youth who reside in the City of Raleigh and have limited experience playing baseball. Each team is led by coaches and umpires who volunteer (officers, parents, and community leaders) their time to the league. The RBI Mentorship Baseball League partners with Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources. Participants need to sign up at Community Centers in the Southeast Raleigh area. The season concludes with an awards ceremony.

GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP | JULY 6-10, 2020Ages 10-14Roberts Park Community Center, 1300 E. Martin St., Raleigh NC 27610

Basketball camp is designed to introduce participants to the basic fundamentals of the sport. Raleigh police officers with basketball skills assist with learning and loving the game. Participants will learn components of team sports and positive competition. The camp concludes with an awards ceremony.

GIRLS INSPIRING REAL LEADERSHIP AND SISTERHOOD (G.I.R.L.S.) CAMPSession 1: June 15-26, 2020 Ages 14-16 Session 2: July 13-24, 2020 Ages 11-13The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, 1924 Capital Blvd., Raleigh NC 27604

G.I.R.L.S. Camp is geared toward mentoring, teaching and development. While the camp’s name was changed by the 2017 Charm School participants, the program has remained the same. G.I.R.L.S Camp focuses on developing self-esteem, proper communication skills, anger management, forgiveness, and life skills. Participants are taught the importance of time management, nutrition and stress management; take educational and college campus field trips; complete STEM activities, listen to motivating Raleigh area guest speakers, and visit several City of Raleigh departments. The camp wraps up with a graduation ceremony, complete with a certificate presentation.

JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY (CO-ED) | JULY 27-AUGUST 7, 2020Ages 13-15Northeast Outreach Center, 4544 Capital Blvd., Raleigh NC 27604

The Junior Police Academy is designed for those that have a desire to learn more about a career in law enforcement. Cadets will gain knowledge about the duties and expectations of a police officer and the different aspects of the police department. Previous participants have taken field trips to the Wake County Courthouse and heard from several different professionals within the police department. There are light physical exercises incorporated throughout the academy. The camp concludes with a graduation ceremony, complete with a certificate presentation.

The Soccer Camp provides instruction in technical skills and strategic awareness in an environment that promotes character, community, and love of the game. The camp provides opportunities for personal development through respect, honor, leadership, achievement and teamwork. Participants are taught by experienced soccer players and coaches from within the Raleigh Police Department. These camps may take a field trip and hear presentations from Raleigh police personnel. The camp wraps up with an awards ceremony.

EXPLORERS POST 911 | YEAR ROUND Ages 14-20 Raleigh Police Training Center, 4205 Spring Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27616

Explorer Post 911 stems from a partnership with Boy Scouts of America. The Explorer Post 911 Program gives young men and women hands-on experience and exposure to the criminal justice field. Explorers have the opportunity to see and train with police officers in a scaled down version of actual law enforcement academy training. Along the way, Cadets will learn, have fun, face challenges, and discover whether a law enforcement career is right for them. Explorers also participate in social activities like law enforcement promotional ceremonies, community events, and parades. There are team building activities, light fitness exercises, information on proper nutrition, educational field trips and competitions.
