Dr Enrico Boccaleri received his degree in Chemistry cum laude in 1996, and PhD in 2001,fromTorinoUniversity,hethenbecamearesearcherinthefieldofInorganicandMaterials Chemistry at the Università del Piemonte Orientale, Faculty of Science, in Alessandria, and since April 2016 is Associate Professor at the Department of Science andTechnologicalInnovationatthesameAcademy.

Hisresearchinterestsarefocusedonthesynthesis,characterizationandfunctionalisationofinorganicandorganic/inorganichybridnano-structuredmaterialsandtheiruseandapplicationasfunctionalmaterialsandadditives.Hisstudiesconcernone-dimensional(layeredinorganicmaterials,e.g.layereddoublehydroxides,orsyntheticclays),two-dimensional(e.g.carbonnanotubes,CNTs)andthree-dimensional(e.g.polyhedraloligomericsilsesquioxanes,POSS).

In2009hefoundedNovaRes,withcolleagues,acompanybornasaspin-offofUPOUniversity,focusedonviableapplicationsofinnovativematerialsattheindustrialscale.Heisco-authorofmorethan60researchpapersoninternationaljournalsandofsixindustrialpatents.

Dr Alain Cavallero graduated in chemistry from the University of Louvain (Belgium) and pursuedhisPhDattheNuclearResearchCentreofJülich(Germany),whichheobtainedin1981.
