The Y is the nations leading nonprotorganization for youth development,

    healthy living and social responsibil-

ity. Our programs offer the youth of

our community the opportunity to learn

    values and positive behaviors, while

exploring their unique talents and in-

terests. That makes for condent kids

    today and contributing and engaged

    adults tomorrow.

The YMCA of Northern Michigan of-

fers youth programs from martial arts

and youth sports, to after-school class-es and day camp. Scholarships ensure

that all children are included, regard-

less of their ability to pay. Yearly, more

than 2,500 youth in our service area

    participate in our programs, activities

and events. The Y Day Camp for chil-

dren ages 6-14 at Camp Pet-O-Se-Ga

on Pickerel Lake serves more than 300

    campers per year. YMCA Leadership

    brings together middle school students

to build leadership skills and tackle

community service projects. And the Y-

Center is a great place for kids grades

4th and up to hang out with friends

    and have fun after school.

You can be a part of something great

by getting involved with the YMCA of

    Northern Michigan. There are many

ways to get involved. You can make

a donation to the Y which will support

    our mission-driven promise to include

all children in our programs, regardless

of their ability to pay. More than 35%

of campers each summer are on nan-

cial assistance. Scholarships are alsoavailable for memberships and program

    fees.

You can join the Y. Your member-

ship allows you to become a part of a

    community with world-wide recogni-

tion, make new friends, receive regular

    communications and enjoy your favorite

    programs at a reduced rate.

    You can volunteer. Volunteers are

the heartbeat of the YMCA. When you

are a volunteer at the Y, you are part

of an organization whose vision is to

build strong kids, strong families and

    strong communities. As a volunteer,

you could lead a class, be a role mode

and mentor, serve on a committee or

board, help out in the ofce or at a sp

cial event, or be part of our fundraisin

team. Take an active role in strength

    ening your community.

Help shape the future of our youth

    and our community. Your involvemen

ensures the continuation of our great

programs and events, as well as our

growth and service to Northern Michi-

gan. Make an impact in your commun

ty. Contact us to nd out how you ca

    be part of something great.

    Four times a

    year, JCPenney

    gives its custom-

    ers the opportu-

    nity to round-up

    their purchase to

    the nearest whole

    dollar, donating

    the difference. All

funds raised in ourJC Penneys stay

    in our community,

    directly beneting

    the Y after-school

    program. Last

    year, small change

    added up to make

a big difference for after-school programs as

Round-Up donations across the country totaled

    $4.7 million!

    Next Roundup: Decemer 1-14.

    At the YMCA, we believe

    that everyone, regardless

    of their personal nancial

    circumstances should have

the chance to participate in the spirit, mind, and body en-

    hancing programs we offer.

The Strong Kids Campaign, which kicks off in Novem-

ber, is a special opportunity for you to reach out and help

those in our community who need it most. It is an op-

portunity to support the overall work of the YMCA in yourcommunity. There are endless stories of families who

benet from Y character building programs. All children

should have the opportunity to participate in these pro-

    grams.

In 2010, hundreds of kids received nancial assistance

for memberships and programs thanks to your support

of the annual Strong Kids Campaign. Please join us this

year. You can give someone a winning chance by sup-

porting them in the YMCA programs and making a lasting

mpact on their lives. Your contribution will be the driving

force that helps give every kid the chance to be a Y kid.

anks to all of our donors and volunteers who helped mour 4th Annual Magic Monday event a huge success!

All proceeds will help support the Y Strong Kids Campai
