Radio2000 (May)

- Started his professional radio training career with mentor David Yapp, at Redcap Radio (Mr. Price) after spending 3 months as a casual at the Mr. Price store in Pinetown

2001 (May)

- Signed a 1 year contract to present on Redcap Radio (1 show per week)

2003

- Had 4 shows per week on Redcap Radio (including Friday & Saturday mix shows)

2004

- Approached by Durban Youth Radio to host the weekday breakfast show (December 2004 – June 2005)

2006

- Establishes good relationships with SA record companies and starts interviewing prominent Kwaito and House musicians on radio- Appears in entertainment section of up and coming DJ’s in the November issue of Marie Claire magazine

2007

- Gagasi 99.5fm approaches JD Mdu to host Friday and Saturday night mix shows (October)

2008

- JD Mdu is runner-up for the (MTN / East Coast Radio) battle of the DJ’s, beating over 200 KZN radio and club DJ’s [mixing and presenting skills]- Approached by Ulwazi Media to be founder presenter and producer for Transnet’s new internal radio facility (Portside FM)- Requested by Gagasi 99.5fm to present the station’s Top 30 chart show from December (first big break on commercial radio)

2011

- JD Mdu started this year on a high note as the official station voice for Gagasi 99.5fm (January 2011)

TV2008

- JD Mdu is approached by Redcap TV (Mr. Price) to co-host the in-house weekly program (his first time on TV)

2012

- JD Mdu is signed as the official voice artist for Mr. Price’s “Heroes TV” (aired monthly on DSTV SS6) – April 2012

2013

- JD Mdu lands his first major South African TV voice-over campaign with PC Training & Business College. His voice is used on all the institutions adverts (Nov 2013 – March 2014), aired on SABC 1, 2 and 3

DJ – Corporate, Campaigns & Club2002

- JD joined Top Jocks (Durban’s Agency of Professional DJ’s) and started training to do corporate gigs with David Yapp, amongst other established DJ’s

2004

- JD is approached by JHB based entertainment agents (Monster Party) to DJ for the Telkom David Sanborn SA Tour. This was JD’s 1st solo corporate gig

2005

- Started playing for Mr. Price’s New store launches (National)- JD landed the resident DJ slot for the Vodacom Durban July at the VODACOM VIP Paddock (2005 – 2012). This is when JD’s DJ career gained momentum

2006

- JD plays for the Metro FM Awards after party in PE

2007

- JD begins his night club career as resident DJ for KZN’s premier night-life venue, HAVANA Music Lounge. He got to play and learn from industry legends such as Fresh, Oskido, Glen Lewis, DJ Sbu and DJ Tira etc.

2008

- JD Mdu is runner-up for the “MTN East Coast Radio” battle of the DJ’s, beating over 200 KZN radio and club DJ’s [mixing and presenting skills]- JD Mdu is approached by Brand Edge to DJ/MC and co-produce the 1st SA NOKIA national road show. It was his biggest gig then (September – December)

2009

- “JD Mdu Business Trading” is established to help manage JD’s hectic business schedule and to attract other business opportunities - Starts appearing in local newspapers and Tabloids, recognizing JD Mdu for his passion, influence and unique contribution to the industry- Signs with the brand new Durban based 2010 World Cup (Moses Mabhida Stadium) as its official announcer (December)

- JD registers with Success University (US based online Personal Development institute) to study Public Speaking

2008

- Acquires successful certification of Success University Personal Development course (March)- Joins Professional Speakers association of Southern Africa (April)- Starts doing Motivational Talks to township youth clubs, schools and companies etc.

2010

- JD acquires full Facilitator certification with Deloitte & Touche (Durban) and signs contract with Mr. Price Group as Facilitator

2011

- JD Mdu officially releases the first publication of his audio book, Be Inspired to be Successful, in November 2011 (KZN)

2012

- JD Mdu’s prime focus is to promote his audio book and to empower the youth community of South Africa, as much as he possible

- JD Mdu signs a sale agreement with Adams Book stores (KZN) on 03 February 2012 and is working on more deals with established book retailers.- JD Mdu is appointed 1 of 4 anchor speakers for the “FIRST THINGS FIRST” KZN campus tour (March 2012)

2013

- JD Mdu is booked by The NYDA to be the keynote speaker for the 2013 Youth Entrepreneur Summit (June, at Durban Exhibition Centre) to over 300 delegates. This was JD’s first big speaking gig

2014

- JD Mdu is the official keynote speaker for PC Training & Business College graduation ceremonies (national, April – June)- JD Mdu is the guest motivational speaker for KZN Legislature on 10 April 2014 at Midmar Conference Center. The feedback was brilliant- JD Mdu is the inspirational studio guest on Gagasi FM’s “Business Class” talk show on 10 June.
