Mission Statement & Instructions The mission of CISD Curriculum and Instruction is to provide quality leadership, service, and support to administrators and teachers as a means of increasing capacity to deliver rigorous instruction to all students that links curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Eduphoria Log In:

• Your Eduphoria login is your CISD email address. • The Eduphoria password for your first time login is corsicana (all lower

case). Please change your password after logging in. o More instructions on how to use Eduphoria may be found on

This booklet showcases courses that are pre-approved for comp credit and non-comp CPE credit by Corsicana ISD for the summer 2017. Please review which course(s) fit your professional development needs.

One day (6 hours) of an approved comp. eligible course is required to fulfill your comp. requirement.

Follow the procedures below to ensure successful completion of comp day credit.

1. Principal Approval

o Complete your Employee Permission to Travel form in Eduphoria Formspace – wait for emailed approval.

o Register for the workshop/course in Eduphoria Workshop. o Principal can verify registration in Eduphoria Workshop or

teacher can print emailed confirmation of registration from [email protected].

o Share your confirmation with your principal for approval.

2. Workshop/Course Registration

o In district workshop Register in Eduphoria Workshop (Eduphoria registration

links are provided)

o ESC Region 12 Complete your Employee Permission to Travel Form in

Eduphoria Formspace. If there is a registration fee or materials fee associated

with your workshop, please fill in that information on the Employee Permission to Travel Form.

Central office will register you for the workshop/course. (Eduphoria registration links are provided)

Complete the 2017-2018 Professional Development Request for Comp Day Form in Eduphoria Formspace.

Complete the Employee Permission to Travel Form in Eduphoria Formspace once comp form above is approved – wait for email approval.

Register for the workshop after permission is granted if it is not an ESC-12 workshop. (Eduphoria registration links are provided)

3. Turn in Certificate of Completion

o Turn in a certificate of completion to Kim Yukon at Lee within 10 business days from the date of the event or as quickly as one is released to you, so that she may award you credit in Eduphoria.

o If a certificate is not presented to you, please sign and date a copy of an agenda or other conference document and turn it in to Kim Yukon.

o Without a certificate of completion for out of district events, CPE or comp credit will not be awarded.

4. Travel Reimbursements

o On your approved Employee Permission to Travel Form, you

will check off for reimbursements. Typical reimbursement are mileage and other (parking). Make sure to check those if applicable.

o For overnight travel only, please check off meals. All meal receipts must be itemized. Meals are NOT reimbursed for one day training.

o Mileage is round trip starting from Lee (2200 W. 4th Avenue) to the destination and back. You must attach a map (MapQuest,

Google Maps or Bing Maps) indicating the mileage of your round trip in order to receive mileage reimbursement.

o Send your requests for reimbursements and a copy of your approved Employee Permission to Travel Form to the Business Office, not the Curriculum Department. Sign all pages and all receipts.

o Deadline for weekly reimbursement is by 9:00 a.m. any Wednesday morning.

Teaching about the Holocaust, ELAR and Social Studies

Complete Employee Permission to Travel form and Register in Eduphoria Workshop – Join ESC Region 12 as we partner with the Dallas Holocaust Museum Center for Education and Tolerance for a FREE workshop helping educators learn how to teach about the Holocaust. Social Studies, History and ELA teachers for grades 6-12 are invited to attend this engaging one-day program. The workshop includes a lecture about teaching the Holocaust, an introduction to online Holocaust teacher resources and a hands-on lesson activity to implement in the classroom.

We’re also excited to feature a three-hour Echos and Reflections teacher training. Echoes and Reflections is a multimedia interdisciplinary program that provides U.S. secondary educators with print and online resources to teach about the Holocaust in today's classrooms. The program uses informational texts and primary source documents to incorporate compelling visual history testimony into multi-part modular lessons that engage students in the lives of survivors, rescuers, liberators, and other witnesses of the Holocaust. There are a limited number of seats in this sessions. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to attendees.

Literacy Conference for Secondary Teachers 2017 Write for Texas Conference

The Write for Texas grant advocates incorporating reading and writing strategies into all core content instruction to ensure student learning and retention in every subject area.
