Many of the windows were located at the front of the warehouse, which led the design team to pull the offices off the perimeter and have large open hallways to allow the natural light to reach into the space. Additionally, the client was previously located in two different buildings and it was very important to the client to have a space that was flexible, collaborative and open. The design team created wide open spaces with limited walls to encourage collaboration amongst the different users and encourage interaction. STRATEGY: CallisonRTKL partnered with tile brand Interceramic to design the company’s new headquarters in Carrollton, TX. Following CallisonRTKL’s successful completion of two product showrooms for the company, Interceramic wanted their new identity reflected into their workplace. The 40,000 SF office space and 260,000 SF distribution center not only celebrates Interceramic’s product, but also pays special attention to the employees’ health and wellness and overall well-being. Prominently displayed “works of art” create an engaging visual experience that showcases the company’s product line and invites employees into the open lobby. After discovering employees were unhappy with the lack of daylight they received in their original offices, CRTKL made sure an abundance of daylight would be found in their new headquarters. RESULTS/IMPACT: The headquarters has many great features throughout the space. A common gathering room was designed to be a flexible place where employees can gather for lunch or bring clients in and host events. CRTKL also designed a library for the Interceramic’s tile designer. Upon the designer’s request, every single tile is able to be hung on flexible shelves that can be rearranged depending on the tile size. The space is flexible enough to be used as both a library and a room for buyers and clients to come learn and enjoy. An abundance of health and wilderness offerings are available to Interceramic employees including lockers and changing facilities for exercising before or after work, paid gym memberships, an inhouse catering service with healthy lunch options for purchase and wellness rooms. Keeping the functionality of the space but presenting it in an artistic, clean way was the team’s main goal. The headquarters is uniquely “crafted for life.” 159 Dallas Carrollton, TX Julie Lefeuvre Brian Fox Kyle Jeffery Randi Lawrence Interceramic Headquarters

CHALLENGE:

Since daylight was such an important component to the health and wellbeing of its employees, CRTKL was challenged to design the office space to allow the natural light to filter into the space.

STRATEGY:

CallisonRTKL partnered with tile brand Interceramic to design the company’s new headquarters in Carrollton, TX.

The headquarters has many great features throughout the space. A common gathering room was designed to be a flexible place where employees can gather for lunch or bring clients in and host events. CRTKL also designed a library for the Interceramic’s tile designer.
