1. The client is a major cosmetics company in Latin America, operating under the direct sales model via magazines and catalogues in 14 countries, for over 50 years

2. They wanted to build a flexible and scalable solution to replace the existing system which wasn’t production-ready and ran on a notebook hosted on an EC2 instance

3. They also wanted to ensure scalability across countries and product categories that can be used by the existing campaign management system for campaign planning

4. A key challenge was the absence of standard processes for IT vendors to access client resources such as data sources, cloud machines, cluster environments, etc.

SOLUTION APPROACH

TECH STACK

1. Ensured the system has minimum manual Intervention and is easy to debug, extend and modularize, resulting in low maintenance and better fault tolerance

2. Created a parallel set-up in the cloud and made dummy tables in the environment to replicate the ETLs

3. Used Google Composer to manage workflow orchestration

4. The Cloud Composer pipelines are configured as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) using Python
