Flat pile feeder The flat pile feeder is designed to accommodate frequent job changes and small to mediumrun lengths. It provides reliable sheet separation and simple operation. Other benefitsinclude a small footprint and lower investment costs.
Round continuous feederThe round continuous feeder can handle a wide variety of stock in non-stop production formedium to long runs - curled sheets and prefolded, perforated or punched products areplaced in a shingled stream on an extra-long feed table. With this continuous loading, theper-day output is roughly 20 percent higher than for a flat-pile feeder.
An ergonomic working height of only 94 centimeters (37.01 inches) is convenient for theoperator and supports fast loading.
Pallet feeder The pallet feeder requires the least attention from the operator. Sheets do not have to beprestacked - instead, the pallet can be taken directly from the press delivery and placed inthe feeder of the folding machine. This cuts makeready and enables the operator toconcentrate entirely on the folding process and delivery. The capacity of the foldingmachine can thus be maximized with a single operator.
The maximum pallet height of 1.2 meters (47.24 inches) is optimally tailored to the height ofa typical sheetfed press delivery.

Buckle Plate Folding Unit: Precise folding accuracy and short makeready times:
The BH Stahlfolder buckle plate folders offer highest flexibility for most diverse foldingapplications. The individual folding units are mobile and can be positioned according to thekind of folding. Thanks to the uniform MCT-control of Heidelberg, a Stahlfolder BHconfiguration can also be combined with other Stahlfolder components such as modern
Sheet Separator Tremat: The proven Tremat fans the pile in the flat pile or pallet feeder withstepless adjustable trail edge blowers to pre-separate the sheets. It ensures stable and highproductivity for the overall folding machine while significantly reducing the time spent onmakeready.
Suction wheel sheet acceleration: A three-hole suction wheel with polyurethane coating (PUcoating) ensures the sheets are quickly separated without markings, accelerating them reliablyand transferring them to the registration table.
Optional feeder automation: All thickness-related settings for folding rollers and slitter shafts areautomatically set to the job-specific values.

Cross-fold unit: Optimum performance in a restricted area
In the cross-fold unit of the Stahlfolder CH models a fold is made by downward-movingfolding knives and counter-rotating folding rollers that fold the sheet. The advantage of thecross-fold unit is that it enables one or more cross folds to be performed in a very restrictedspace.
Details Cross-Fold Unit:
Folding Roller Drive: The external folding roller drive comprises hardened and helical gears,providing an extremely precise drive.The fold quality remains high throughout the entire run.
Extra-Grip-Folding Rollers made of polyurethane (PU) consist of a steel core with embedded PU-rings. The soft PU material provides superior traction, offers excellent register, preventsmarking, and promotes completely parallel, slip-free stock transportation.
Manual or motor-driven folding roller adjustment: The setting of the folding roller gaps caneither be done manually by means of the proven FESTA-settings or in a motor-driven way.
Buckle plates with swing deflector can be switched over to deflector mode very easily. Thebuckle plate doesn't need to be removed from the machine - it is simply pulled back a little andthe deflector is flipped over. This saves time and also prevents damage.
Option Automated combination buckle plates: In positions 1 to 6 it is possible to use automatedcombination buckle plates optionally. They feature two motors and precise toothed belts tochange the position and angle of the sheet stop. They can be controlled via the centraltouchscreen at the feeder. Repeat jobs are even faster to set up by retrieving stored settings
Cross-fold unit
Cross-Fold Configurations: The Stahlfolder CH machines are available in the cross-fold variantsKL, KTL or - with a working width of 78 centimeters - also as KLL or KTLL. This guaranteeshighest productivity especially for the most common signature productions.
Folding knife: The folding knife is triggered by a light sensor activated by the rear edge of thesheet. In other words, if a sheet is folded incorrectly, the machine stops immediately, thusavoiding long machine stoppages. As the folding knives are reinforced, the knife guides have alonger service life, thus ensuring long-term folding precision. The segmentation of the first knifeblade means it is possible to process even smaller formats with minimum sheet spacing.
Ergonomic Operation: The cross-fold unit is equipped with a central control panel, mounted ona pivot arm. It allows for an easy operation and good access to all adjustable parts in the cross-fold unit.

Deliveries: Modular components for all kinds of products
The BH/CH folding machines can be combined with all current deliveries of Heidelberg. Thefollowing deliveries are recommended for BH/CH-machines:
Modular Control Technology MCT
The MCT control system consists of a central controller in the folding machine's feeder andintegrated control functions in both downstream aggregates and the delivery, which offerfull control of major machine functions. In learning mode the sheet length is measured andthe suction cycle length and sheet spacing are automatically set and continuouslymonitored.
Equipment
With the automated machine versions, buckle plate stops, buckle plates with swingdeflectors, folding rollers and slitter shafts are automatically set in the buckle plate units.The settings for up to 300 jobs can be stored and recalled as they were used duringproduction, including all fine adjustments. This clearly shortens the setup time with repeatorders. All automated Stahlfolder BH/CH folding machines are equipped with a centraltouchscreen.
Deliveries
SAF: The SAF is the universal basic stream delivery for all kinds of products. The settings aremade via the central operation panel at the feeder. Batches are created by interrupting thesuction cycle at the feeder.
SAK: The SAK is also a mobile shingled stream delivery but is especially designed for wide-format parallel folding work. The integrated control panel facilitates fast delivery setup and easyoperation of the entire machine network.
Modular Control Technology MCT
Machine operation: The user interface of the control display uses self-explanatory symbols -graphics that are clear and concise in terms of functionality and operation.
Central touchscreen: Automated Stahlfolder BH/CH machines are equipped with a centraltouchscreen console. Its graphical user interface with intuitive icons makes it very easy tooperate the machine. The touchscreen control includes a makeready wizard that guides theoperator step by step through the makeready process using graphical fold type icons. The mostcommon folding schemes can be easily selected from an integrated fold type catalog. Thefolding machine can also be set using data obtained via the workflow.

The pneumatic gatefold buckle plate enables high cycling rates of up to 15,000 cycles anhour with consistently high folding quality. The ACC 2.4 digital control module controls theswitching points of the pneumatic gatefold buckle plate precisely, individually, andindependently of the folding speed. The pneumatic gatefold buckle plate enables foldlengths from 6.5 centimeters (2.56 inches).
All machine configurations are also available with CE conformity. This includes noise hoodsand electrically monitored safety covers over slitter shafts.
