We are a fourth generation company of Costa Rican coffee growers and roasters. Since the late 1850´s our family has successfully been involved in the growing, harvesting and roasting of some of Costa Rica´s finest coffees. The company is headquartered in San José and produces a range of the highest quality products that allow us to list amongst our clients giants such as Wal-Mart. We have mustered all this experience into our coffee bags, creating a well-balanced cup from the best coffee beans grown in Costa Rica´s mountains.

Our coffee is grown in volcanic and low-acidic fertile soil, conditions ideal for production. More than 80% of the coffee area is located between 800 and 1,600 meters (2,625 feet-5,250 feet) above sea level. 100% of our coffee comes from the Arabica specie, the Caturra and Catuaí varieties, which produce a high quality bean and a cup with better organoleptic characteristics: pleasant, aromatic, and select. The planting of Robusta coffees has been prohibited by law since 1989 because of its inferior cup quality.

The advanced technology that the Costa Rican coffee producer has used for more than 200 years has allowed the plantations to adapt to the characteristics of each zone. Today Costa Rican coffee is grown in 8 production zones: Brunca, Turrialba, Tres Ríos, Orosi, Tarrazú, the Central and Western Valleys and Guanacaste. Lindo Coffee Group coffee is sourced mainly from the Western Valley zone.

A manual and selective method of picking is used: only ripe berries (at optimal ripeness) are selected. Costa Rica coffee growers and the owners of the processing plants signed a Quality Improvement Agreement through which they have committed to harvest and process only ripe fruit, which guarantees better cup quality. Additionally, the Costa Rican coffee sector only uses wet processing, in which the removal of the pulp is done the same day that it is harvested.

Both the sun-dry and mechanical methods are used in Costa Rica. The first being one of the preferred methods in the increasingly demanding world market. These processes allow to obtain a precise optimal drying point (12% humidity).

The goal of Costa Rica’s coffee growing sector is to continue improving bean and roasted coffee sales while adher-ing to its strategy of “quality, not quantity”; to always provide increasing value to our coffee and to increasingly provide the local market with quality coffee.

Being that Costa Rica has been a coffee producing country over the past few hundred years it is only natural that we have developed our own way of preparing our coffee. In our Café Dominica Traditional Style coffee we have successfully captured this country tradition and developed a blend that fully expresses the way our grandparents used to start their day. The blend of beans used in Café Dominica traditional style coffee consists mainly of high altitude beans (above 1000 meters above sea level) from the Naranjo area. This coffee offers a strong dark roast that enhances its taste and aroma and yet allows us to offer a price oriented product.
