Mia roles Assistant Producer & Actress

As an assistant producer I will not fulfill all of these roles but I will give my ideas when needed and support the producer. I will also be helping to edit the scripts and create the final drafts of the screen play, whenever the producer will need me to assist them also I will be there.

An actress/ actor is someone who plays a character in film, television, radio, or theatre productions. When most people think of actors they think of Hollywood actors who perform in blockbuster films, and this is often the ultimate aspiration of anyone dreaming of a career in acting. As one of the actresses I will be playing one of the key parts in the production giving my time and devotion to my given role.

Locations• Due to the general plot, we

are thinking of setting it in an office where we are working – a possible idea for that is using one of the offices in the college, possibly asking the enrichment team or our teachers.

• We will also set it in a bar with high contrast and chiaroscuro lighting. The chiaroscuro lighting adds drama and suspense.

Pre-production we have completed• So far, the only pieces of pre-production we have

completed are the group contracts and individual action plans. We also have the minutes of meeting documents where we have discussed the progress being made in the group. We will go on to document the risk assessments, the location recce, budget, and other documents, which Jamie Cairney will produce, as the assistant producer. We also have to write the script and we will soon go and choose locations to work in, picking the most suitable for our film.

James roleDirector• Being the driving creative force in a film's production - visualising and defining the style and structure of the film, then bringing it to life• Carrying out duties such as casting, script editing, shot composition, shot selection and editing• Acting as the crucial link between the production, technical and creative teams• Directors are responsible for creatively translating the film's written script into actual images and sounds on the screen. They are ultimately responsible for a film's artistic and

commercial success or failure.

Directors may write the film's script or commission it to be written, or they may be hired after an early draft of the script is complete. They must then develop a vision for the finished film and work out how to achieve it.

• During pre-production, Directors make crucial decisions, such as selecting the right cast, crew and locations for the film. They then direct rehearsals and the performances of the actors once the film is in production.

They also manage the technical aspects of filming including the camera, sound, lighting, design and special effects departments.

During post production, Directors work closely with Editors through the many technical processes of editing, to reach the final cut or version of the film.

At all stages, Directors are responsible for motivating the team to produce the best possible results. Directors must also always be aware of the constraints of the film's budget and schedule and manage the expectations of the film's financiers.

Assistant editor • Running and maintaining editing systems• Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the cutting room on feature films• Supporting the whole of the post production process on feature films and working closely with film labs, and with the camera and sound departments• Understand the requirements of the relevant health and safety laws and procedures

Assistant Editors take charge of the day-to-day running edit suite, leaving the Editor free to concentrate on the work of editing the film.• The first task is to communicate with other relevant departments (production, camera, sound, etc.) to understand and analyse the work flow, and to pass this information on to the

Editor.• During the shoot, while the Editor starts to work on a rough assembly of selected rushes, Assistant Editors check the camera sheets when the rushes arrive, noting any technical

problems. Assistant Editors often work in a different room to the Editor and, on low budget films, may be required to sync rushes early in the morning or late at night when the editing machine is not being used by the Editor. Consequently, the traditional apprenticeship model for Assistant Editors has changed, as less time is now spent watching and learning from the Editor. Assistant Editors must therefore be more proactive in monitoring how the edit is progressing.

• Depending on the workload, and providing the Editor trusts the Assistant, whole segments of the assembly edit may be given over to Assistant Editors, who can use this opportunity to demonstrate their flair and ability.

• When picture lock is achieved, one of the Assistant Editors' last tasks is to compile an Edit Decision List, which provides a record of all the edit points.
