Step 2 - Aim Clear and concise States what you want to achieve Realistic and achievable Referred to throughout Step 3 Consideration of the Factors Factor So What?(Deductions) Ground: going (foot/vehicle), routes, obstacles, dominating ground, distance, weather, visibility Enemy: strength, locations, tactics, equipment, morale, intentions (most likely course of action) Friendly Forces: strength, equipment, morale, comparison of enemy and own strengths Time and Space: fixed timings, time required for each task, concurrent or consecutive tasks, key constraints (speed, boundaries, etc.)

Step 1 – Review of the Situation

What exactly is the problem you’re trying to solve?

Why is it a problem?

Who else is impacted by the problem, or who needs to be involved?

When do you need to solve the problem; i.e. how long have you got?

Where is the root of the problem? Or what is the root of the problem?

Factor ‘So What?’ (Deductions)
