STUDY OF THE ART

PROBIRD performs a deep study of the state of the art

in this field in Europe (existing or in-design solutions,

effectiveness, species affected, risk characterization,etc.), in both onshore and marine (offshore) wind farms.

BENCHMARKING ANALYSIS

Based on the previous step (study of the art), follows a

comparative analysis and benchmarking of existing

solutions for approaching bird detection and deterrence,

under a multi-criteria analysis which takes into account

the technical, economic and environmental feasibility as

well as multiple variables such as the effectiveness of thewell as multiple variables such as the effectiveness of the

solution in terms of species and types of mills, costs,

energy efficiency, use of renewable energy and the use of

smart technologies, among others.

BIRD RISK COLLISION

The project will establish a methodology for

calculating the risk of collision (with or without

preventive measures) based on indicators and

previous field studies.

MODELLING THE RISK: I.T. TOOL

The method will be implemented in the design of an

innovative and specific software tool (I.T. Tool) for the

simulation of scenarios, applicable to any wind farm,

opened to any type of deterrent modelling solution

(existing or potential).(existing or potential).

The IT Tool will provide predictive results (both

graphical and statistical) on the probability of collision and

resulting risk, in order to help on strategic decision

concerning to bird collision prevention.

The software will be implemented and validated in an

existing case (one wind farm) to compare real

modelling results on different possible solutions.
