Course Descripti onKeeping pace with the rapid changes in evidence-based criti cal care medicine is a challenge for spe-cialty-trained intensivists; for non-intensivists, the challenge of staying up-to-date may be overwhelming. This CME course is intended to provide core clinical criti cal care skills to health care providers who are not trained as Intensivists, but whose clinical duti es involve taking care of criti cally ill pati ents.

The focus of this course will be to highlight recent important evidence-based advances in the practi ce of modern criti cal care medicine. Broad curricular categories include:

■ diagnosti c skills and procedures; ■ therapeuti c advances and interventi ons; and ■ up-to-date pati ent safety and quality improvement

The material will be presented in several formats including lectures, interacti ve case-based discus-sions and clinical management simulati on sessions where parti cipants’ clinical reasoning abiliti es will be assessed and strategies for incorporati ng, synthesiz-ing and applying core criti cal care knowledge will be provided.

Our outstanding faculty, recognized as experts in the fi eld, will lead individual didacti c sessions, facilitate interacti ve discussion sessions, and direct simulati on, procedural and clinical management practi ce sessions.

Opti onal Simulati on and Skills Lab Workshop

Procedural and clinical management skills will be emphasized during the opti onal workshop at the Carl J. Shapiro Simulati on and Skills Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. This state-of-the-art facility off ers the latest advances in medical simulati on tech-nology to replicate real-life pati ent care situati ons. Select procedural skills will be taught to complete your comprehensive training. Transportati on will be provided. A separate registrati on fee applies.
