I would like to publicly thank the amazing staff who have worked so hard and positively through all the recent disruptions. They have continued to provide an outstanding learning experience for every WWPS student through the global COVID-19 pandemic by; adapting to online learning, preparing for new procedures when face to face learning returned in phase 1 & 3 and on top of all of that, they have successfully settled all students into our brand new teaching and learning spaces. Our incredible team have done all of this with smiles on their faces and a constant belief that we will always do what is best for our students. I would like to credit their perseverance, dedication and at times many, many extra hours of work that they give to our school. WWPS is truly fortunate to have such incredibly dedicated professionals and all-round lovely people working at our school. Semester One Reports 2020 Student reports will be sent home today. Please note that the report format for this semester has been adjusted. As per NSW Department of Education Guidelines, this report will not contain the same level of information normally found in a Semester One report. Adjustments have been made at the request of the DoE following the COVID-19 situation, which saw most students away from school for between 6 and 8 weeks of Semester One. While we all did our best through ‘remote learning’, most students were not in the room with the teacher every day and this has thrown up many challenges for learners and teachers. This difficulty has transferred through to assessment and reporting. The ‘simplified’ report for Semester One 2020 does not contain A-E grades and comments are less detailed than what they might usually be. The report for Semester Two will return to the full A-E format for the end of the school year. Afternoon Pick Up – Traffic Thank you to everyone for your continued support and understanding during our busy afternoon pick up time. The process seems to be working well, with all children knowing what gate they are leaving from each day. Please remember to follow all 40km/h speed limits and parking signage to ensure the continued safety of our students. Canteen Thank you to all of our amazing parent volunteers who continually work in our school canteen, giving up their own time to provide an incredible service for our children. Since returning, our canteen has been very busy (which is awesome) and our parents have handled this without any problems. Mobile Phones and Smart Watches Students are not to bring mobile phones or smart watches to school. The Department of Education has a strict policy on their usage which is outlined in the ‘Student use of Digital Devices and Online Services’ policy. Smart watches are those that have any form of online service, including the capacity to make phone calls or to send text messages or to take photos or to record conversations which is illegal in schools. Please keep mobile phones, smart watches and other digital devices at home. If a mobile phone is needed to be with a child for before or after school reasons, then the phone MUST be handed into the office before school and collected at the end of the school day. I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday period and look forward to seeing all students return to school on Tuesday 21st July. Please note that Monday 20th July 2020 is a pupil free day. Tim Lewis
