Principal’s Message Dear Parent/Carers, SUCCESSFUL SSPS STUDENTS Principal Merit Pins are being handed out at most assemblies now, as students hand in their 3 merit cards for 2019. These colourful pins vary in colour according to our grades K-6. Pictured below are Kindergarten students receiving their pins at a recent assembly. We are hoping all students wear their pins with pride, building up their collection year after year.

Congratulations to our successful OC and selective HS applicants this year. As usual, our school has had many applications for Opportunity Class and Selective High School. Many students have been accepted or on the reserve list for 2020. Well done to all those who applied. WATCH OUT! 2020 KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS COMING SOON…. Kindergarten 2020 orientation begins in two weeks. We have 100 students registered to begin their educational school journey next year. These excited little ones will be the graduates of 2033. Seems a long time away but time flies! STRATHFIELD NETWORK AWARDS Congratulations to our extraordinary School Administrative Officer, Mrs Irene Gilmore, who was

recently awarded a Strathfield Network Award for 2019. This award symbolises and honours the dedication Mrs Gilmore has shown to our school community. We are thrilled to work with her every day. She is pictured here receiving her award from the Strathfield Director, Ms Maria Serafim.

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATED IN STYLE Last Friday was World Teachers’ Day. And what a beautiful day it was! The sun was out and everyone was smiling! Days like this remind Ms Cidem and I of how very grateful we are to be working with so many passionate, hardworking and helpful colleagues. Thank you to the P&C and the Social Club for all the sweet gifts and treats. Mini honey jars were presented to each teacher of the school from the social club. A coffee cart came to the school and provided free coffee to any member of staff 8-9am and a delicious morning tea of sweet and savoury treats was provided. What a thoughtful community.

On Sunday the 27th of October Signora Bergamin and Signora Morgan

Please contact the school phone 9642 1359 or come to the office if you are able to assist. Thanking you in anticipation. iPLAY – ACTIVE KIDS

The Active Kids program aims to increase participation of school-enrolled children in sport and physical activity by providing parents with vouchers to help cover the cost of registration and membership fees. Families can now access two separate $100 vouchers for each school-enrolled child. This means more kids can get involved in physical activity and learn healthy habits from a young age. The vouchers may be used with an approved Active Kids provider. There are over 10,000 providers in NSW. The vouchers can be used to pay for out of school physical education programs including netball, soccer, gymnastics, tennis, tae kwon do and baseball. The vouchers maybe approved for by using the Services NSW website.
