In Sympathy

We extend our sympathy to the families and friends of Clifford Holl. Please keep them in your prayers.

Deacon Jeff’s Corner

Would we ever think that dishonesty is a trait that Jesus would say is prudent? Even though he says this in the Gospel this weekend, it’s another case where Jesus exaggerates to help us understand his point. What exactly is the point? Like the parables we heard last weekend, (the lost sheep, the lost coin and the prodigal son,) he wants us to mirror the image of God in our generosity toward others and especially our forgiveness. Is there someone who has hurt you in the past and you still can’t forgive them? Forgiveness for human beings is a very, very difficult thing. We would much

rather hold grudges and even talk negatively about

the other person (which is a sin in itself) than forgive. Think about it. Does holding a grudge hurt the other

person? I would think not! Wouldn’t it be much easier on ourselves to simply forgive them? Jesus forgives us whenever we ask and never looks back. Maybe we

should try the same approach and see how we can change our own lives and the lives of those around us!

Greetings Parishioners of Prince of Peace Church, The HIVE was founded with the goal of trying to help students of Preble High receive much needed personal supplies, so they can feel a bit more comfortable and accepted during the school day. The vision was to provide them with just enough to “fit in” so they could focus on their learning. We simply are trying to remove some barriers that students of poverty and neglect face. The need is great, the cause is just, and the struggle is real.

Prince of Peace Parish members, who are clearly Stewards of Christ, have consistently been our #1 source of donations and enable us to carry out our goal.

Thank You!

Dusti spoke passionately to the congregation about how the HIVE helps students. It is because of teachers like her, and generous donors like you, that we are able to help so many of our students of poverty succeed.

Thank You!

As a teacher at Preble, I often provide vocabulary terms and quizzes to my students. Here is a list for you to review: -Charity: noun The voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of goods or money, to those in need. IE: The actions of the members of Prince of Peace are rooted in love, discipleship, and charity.

-Allegiance: noun Loyalty or commitment of an individual to a group or cause. IE: The allegiance of parishioners at Prince of Peace to the Preble High HIVE is outstanding and filled with teamwork and kindness.

-Benevolence: noun An inclination to do kind or charitable acts, intending to show kindness and good will. IE: Helping those in need, those that cannot thank you, is an act of benevolence by the good people of Prince of Peace Parish.

-Magnanimity: noun To disdain meanness or judgement, to display a nobel generosity. IE: Billy, a student at Preble, attended school, fit in, and succeeded thanks largely to the magnanimity of the Christ-like people of Prince of Peace.

Finally, as Luke 14:14 states “...and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

From all of us at Preble High, Thank You and may God Bless You.

Keep God First The reading from the Prophet Amos, written about 800 BC, could easily have been written today. It is challenging us to look at our lives. Has the Sabbath lost its importance in our lives? Is money more important to us that our faith? This is one of those reminders that we should start each day with, keeping God first and also loving our neighbor. It is easy to slip into society’s push for more worldly goods, for more wealth. Having possessions isn’t bad, but when they control our lives and we put them first, that is when the problems start. We can contrast our desire for worldly good with the second reading when St. Paul is asking for prayers, “that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity.” Now that doesn’t sound like anything I’ve seen advertised on TV. Yet another challenge, what am I praying for? St. Paul is asking for prayers for people in leadership. With the election push starting, I think all those running need our prayers. The Gospel is one that left many Scripture scholars scratching their heads. A difficult one to understand for sure. Yet, we should ask ourselves, aren’t we all stewards? Have we all done everything we are called to do? Do we need to make amends for those things we have done wrong? Maybe the master in the Gospel is like God, ready to forgive if we only correct those mistakes we have made, our sins? Just as in the story of the Prodigal Son, the father rejoiced when the lost son came home. As I pray the Our Father and get to the end, “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” I realize that maybe I need to go back to reconcile some issues with people I know. All three readings ask us to put God first in our lives. To pray for things that really matter and to use our worldly possessions for the good of all. Jerry Berg Disciple

October, Month of the Rosary

This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated

annually on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the

Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church

in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.

On the weekends of October 5&6, 12&13, 19&20 and 26&27 we will begin to pray the rosary 30 minutes

before each Mass.

All are welcome!!

First Friday Anointing Mass &

55 and Over Senior Luncheon

We hope everyone had a wonderful safe summer! We begin October 4th with our First Friday lunches and Mass. This first one will be a bit different...ARDC is

doing a Prince Of Peace luncheon for us. It will consist of baked cod, parsley buttered potatoes,

veggie, rye bread and a dessert. Remember, Mass is at 11:00 and lunch follows. We have a sign up sheet

in the gathering place in order to have the right amount of food. Sign up by Wed. Oct. 2nd. You can also call LeeAnn @920-465-8882

and leave a message.

Adoration at 10am Anointing Mass at 11am

with lunch to follow!!

Prayer Garden

After two years of planning and many donor patrons, the Prayer Garden was installed the

week of September 16th. The garden is located to the left of the front church doors.

It is a place meant to be used by all to meditate, pray or just sit and reflect.

The dedication will be held on Sunday, September 29th

after the 10am Mass.
