I would like mixed feedback, what is good, what needs improving They need to be honest What they would do if they designed the magazine What they think is unique about the magazine

Public research response

I think the colour scheme does fit the magazine because the use of dark and light colours makes the magazine eye catching and makes the magazine look professional and stand out.

The model is dressed and presented appropriately as the model isn’t showing any nudity or offensive symbols; he isn’t flaunting himself to the audience.

This isn’t the genre I would usually go for but it does stand out to me

The colours don’t blend together to me, it is easily visible to see as the light background makes the red and black image and font stand out.

The masthead is large enough; it is easily visible from a distance.

The main image is defiantly large enough, even though it overlaps the masthead a bit it is still easily readable and it makes the magazine look professional.

From a certain distance the main sell line is visible enough to see. As it is red it makes it stand out a lot more. I would make it slightly bigger though.

I have heard of this magazine brand, it is a big brand in the type of genre of magazines it produces.

The model is someone I recognise, using this model it shows that the magazine brand are worth a lot to get a musician like Eminem to model their magazine.

The font is easy to read as the letters are fairly spaced out and don’t blend in with each other that much.

My Reflection

After doing my primary research, I can now identify what features and aspects I have to place on my magazine cover. I have reviewed what sizes and colours some of the features have to be to make my magazine look professional. I know how my model needs to be presented so it is appropriate to my audience.

Secondary research- research into a potential target audience

From this reader profile we can identify that the male popularity is 61% to women’s 31%. This is because we see a lot more male rappers than female rappers and it presents a more masculine effect. The gene of the magazine is aimed towards a younger audience. This is because rap music is more in trend in this generation to what it was 20-30 years ago. However, sometimes the way the models are presented and what they say can be seen as offensive and not appropriate to younger audiences. The popularity of the magazine helps the rap music industry a lot as this way when people go to look at magazines rap artists are identified.

Studying this image we can see that for the magazine XXL has a male dominant audience as for the same reason for NME. We can also identify that the African- American ethnicity read the magazine the most. This is because most rappers are African- American and the language that the rappers use may relate towards their ethnicity. The largest percentage of readers is aged between 25-29 year olds. This is because of

the type of language and the way the artist represent themselves aren’t suitable for younger audiences.

For the billboard magazine we can identify that the magazine is aimed at young adults aged 18+. For the same reasons as the other reader profiles rap music is more in trend in our generation to what it was 20-30 years ago. The reader profile presents that readers do spend time reading the magazine per week, this presents that the magazine is a well-known popular brand. This is also shown within its net worth exposure as it worth over $1 million. As it is this much it shows

it is a large well known popular company.

Reader Profile for my magazine

Male: 65%

Female: 35%

Ethnicity:

African American- 60%

Caucasian white- 30%

Hispanic Latino- 8%

Asian- 2%

Age:

15-18- 10%

18-21- 25%

21+- 65%

For my reader profile I have made some specific results. Using these results I can clearly identify who my audience is. Looking at the other reader profiles I can identify what age, ethnicity and gender my audience is. By using the other results to get a more realistic reader profiles for my magazine I will give me ideas in what o include within my magazine. I have clearly indicated that my audience is mostly above the age of 21 and that the majority of people are African American males.
