• Example Data 1300 MW Nuclear Power Station Version Please refer to file 1.1 - 1.1.02 for further information regarding this example. A pressure switch must ensure the stoppage of an air compressor in a sub-building by rising pressure. − Stoppage at 1.7 MPa (17 bar) − Reinitiation at 1 MPa (10 bar) Other features of the chosen example: − Low rates, but with pulsation, − A maximum of 3 MPa (30 bar) static pressure, − Temporary overpressures : 5.5 MPa (55 bar).

Selection

1. Overpressures and pulsations require a diaphragm component. PA 2. A microswitch with adjustable deadband corresponding to the demand

must be selected. 0.7 MPa (7 bar). 96 3. The range from 0.5 to 5 MPa (5 to 50 bar) may be selected, as deadband are

higher than the demand. R or RX 4. The working environment is in a conventional zone and electrical output

via a connector. 40 AS or UTOS • Information on Equipment The devices adapt to multiple combinations and versions, GEORGIN only references the most common functions in their identification files. The manufacturer can deviate from standard specifications and adapt equipment to special needs (For example: contact code selection). In the event where you are unsuccessful in sourcing equipment to satisfy your needs, or to confirm the choice already made, please consult GEORGIN. • Information on versions The standardized references are suitable for conventional or nuclear environments, and are qualified as K3 for tests or extensions. Conventional 40A Nuclear 40BC Standardized UTO N.B.: Each file concerning standardization includes a list of standard references in the "CODING" section.

• ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS • Contact Codes 96 1: Microswitch with dry contacts, nitrogen sealed, adjustable deadband. Manufactured by ABB CONTROL. 98: While maintaining the electrical properties of contact 96, this version is used to reduce minimal deadband significantly in manufacturing . Deadband is fixed here. 16: Where a special E.D.F. (French electricity service) dispensation is supplied, GEORGIN can provide other contacts.

PB and P PB and PHB (Ranges A, M) (Except Ranges A, L, M)

PRINCIPLE Pressure (P) is applied to a ductile system (sensitive component) whose consecutive position variations effect an LP balance. The effort produced is balanced by an RP spring allowing the adjustment of the setpoint. Once the setpoint has been reached, the contact(s) detect the LP balance movement.

USE

• General

− All fluids compatible with the sensing component for relative static pressure between - 0.1 to 25 MPa (-1 to 250 bar).

− Low rates (4 requests/minute). − Restricted overpressures.

• Specific

− Use in hazardous zones - Explosion-proof material: "Certified as compliant with harmonised European standards and ATEX directive 94/9/EC - Certificate of Conformity No. LCIE 01 ATEX 6071 X EEx d IIC T6" - Please consult GEORGIN for further information.

(1) PA type devices may be fitted with a stainless steel diaphragm for the P and Q ranges only.

The reference is thus changed to P version G (PG), the minimum deadbands in the table are approx. 1.5 times higher than the corresponding PA, and maximum pressure is 10 PMa (100 bar) (not possible for explosion-proof devices).

PRINCIPLE Temperature (T) is applied to a sensing component based on the "vapour pressure" principle, with direct or remote installation. The temperature, which has thus been transformed into pressure, is transmitted to metal bellows via a sealed circuit. The temperature switch thus operates in the same manner as a bellowed pressure switch. The variation in the bellows pressure, due to fluctuation in temperature, effects an LP scale. The effort produced is balanced by an RP spring allowing the adjustment of the setpoint. Once the setpoint has been reached, the contact(s) detect the LP balance movement.

USE

• General

− All fluids compatible with the sensing component for temperatures between - 90 to +600°C.

• Specific − Use in hazardous zones - explosion-proof material: "Certified as compliant with harmonised European standards and ATEX directive 94/9/EC - Certificate of Conformity No LCIE 01 ATEX 6071X EEx d IIC T6" - Please consult GEORGIN for further information.

(1) For very corrosive environments, type C temperature switches with Tombac bellows can be equipped with stainless steel bellows (add the letter X after C). (2) The W range: never expose the housing or the capillary to temperatures below + 6°C. The device does not function at below + 6°C, but reinitiates itself above + 6°C without incurring any damage. (3) Y and Z ranges: both ranges must be installed with capillaries of ≤ 2 meters.

The standard ranges in the above table may be extended to so called "special" ranges (range ID is followed by 1 or 2). For such instances, the maximum temperature and deadband increase. Please consult GEORGIN for further information.

PRINCIPLE Explosion-proof housing used to hold the electrical part of the logical sensor defined in the special identification files. Where a flammable mixture infiltrates the casing, it can withstand an explosion without incurring any structural breakdown or internal inflammation transfer through its assembly seals or other contacts with the external explosive environment. USE Use in hazardous zones in the more severe gas environments such as a hydrogen, acetylene, carbon bisulfide or ethyl nitrate environment.

TESTS − The "RTPE" series housing is approved for use in hazardous zones by the LCIE in conformity with the ATEX

directive 94/9/EC. This protective device is subject to the following general regulations: − EN 50014 (harmonised European standard) and to specific regulations: EN 50018 - EEx d IIC T6. Certificate of

Conformity no. LCIE 01 ATEX 6071X. The casing's protective level is in accordance with standard EN 60529 (protection of persons, protection of equipment against dust and liquids). Please note that characteristics corresponding to the IP 66 level are a supplement to the casing’s explosion-proof properties. They have good withstanding power against external factors and ensure perfect mechanical performance. This housing integrates the maximum safety aspects which can currently provided by this type of device.
