Fountain East Security Patrol
Our evening security patrol is avolunteer opportunity for you tohelp keep our park safe andsecure; however, it is everyresident’s responsibility to beaware of suspicious activity
and/or people in the park. If you feel something isnot right, if you see someone on a bicycle or walkingin the park who does not belong, you should contactthe POLICE immediately.
The security patrol co-ordinators plan to have peopledoing late-night shifts during what appears to be theprime time for criminal activity, namely 1-5 a.m. Ifyou would like to be involved, please contact DonStebbins #140 or Jim Owens #33. With enoughpeople, it probably would entail only 1-2 shifts amonth.
Let’s be safe not sorry!
The New Management Team
When you see these new faces around the park, take
a moment to say hello and welcome. They are Bill
and Donna, and they are Fountain East’s new
management team. Bill is originally from
Pennsylvania, lived in Wisconsin and has been an
Arizona resident for 10 years. As a Marine he
served in the Gulf War. Bill comes to us with a
background in park management and maintenance.
Donna also hails from Pennsylvania. She is number
13 out of 14 children in her family. She is a
certified medical assistant and worked in that field
for 18 years. She can be found in the office
handling the business work of the park.
We welcome them and ask that should any resident
feel the need to act directly with Park Management,
please always be respectful. They would like us to
know that they are employed by Kingsley but work
for the residents!
April 5, 2016, Fountain East Residents’Meeting
This was the final association meeting of the year. Conducted by Vice President Connie Aagar, some ofthe business handled:
i Profits from the last two Thursdayentertainments, $157.90. Profit from the March5th dance, $593.
i Residents were advised to check with CarolynTaylor, Activities Co-ordinator, beforescheduling any event so that there would be noconflict. Activities schedules are available fromCarolyn.
i A signed check made out to Basha’s will begiven to the person who picks up the Saturdaydonuts thus relieving that person of paying outof his own pocket and asking for reimbursementfrom the Association.
i A resident asked about replacing theshuffleboard courts, something that waspromised in 1999. It was requested that the

At the January Residents’ Association meeting itwas evident that many residents had similarconcerns about the general deterioration of the parkand park services over the past few years. Surveyswere delivered door-to-door for input. As a result, meetings took place in February between KingsleyManagement and the Residents’ Associationrepresentatives. The results were as follows:
Kingsley Management agreed to repair and/or fix allissues brought to their attention. This includes, butis not limited to, a major repair or replacement ofthe front gate, major renovations to the poolbathrooms (now underway), replace the lights onthe front entrance trees. The expectation is that allrepairs should be completed in the next threemonths.
We are hopeful that with some reinvestment by theManagement Company and Owners, our park canbe brought back up to the standard once enjoyedby all.
Thank you to all the residents for your input.
resident put this in writing, and it would be givento the management. Concern was expressedabout the expense of doing this replacementand that it would probably be passed on toresidents in the form of another rent increase.
i John Stewart gave updates on park issues asper the surveys completed by residents. Seebelow.
Donna and I would like to thank all the residents for
your nice warm welcome as we assume our duties as
managers here at Fountain East. All of you have
been very patient with us as we settle in.
We would like to address the pool and spa situation.
The pool and spa have both had to be drained and
cleaned in the last month due to vandalism. This
very large and unnecessary expense, plus the
inconvenience and aggravation to the active pool-
going residents, was caused by malicious vandalism!
We are going to do our best to find out who is
responsible for these actions, and they will
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We will
not have this type of resident or associate living in
or visiting our park.
In order to help curtail these kinds of problems, we
will be installing security cameras at the front gate
and all around the pool area as soon as possible, and
hopefully the vandalism will stop.
You also may have noticed signs posted near the
office and other places regarding the sale or rental
of park homes. Residents who sell or rent their
units to others MUST be sure that those potential
buyers/renters are pre-approved by the Fountain
East MHC prior to the transaction. A completed
application packet plus application fee ($25/person
or $45/couple), copy of driver’s license/state ID
and proof of income need to be submitted to the
office. No transaction is final until the park has
approved the potential resident.
Also remember that this is a 55+/40 community and
that pets must be under 25 pounds.
We are looking forward to working with all the
residents as we make this a safe and happy home for
everyone here at Fountain East. Remember that our
office door is always open for you to express any
concerns or ask questions.

Held on April 13 and hosted by the morning aquasize
group, it was the final ladies’ luncheon of the season.
Over 50 residents and guests enjoyed a croissant
sandwich, fluff salad, chips and a cupcake. And of
course, pre-lunch punch. Special recognition goes to
Crystal Mitchell who prepared the amazing food, did
the table decorations and created the papier-maché
elephant. Pictured above are the hostesses Marilyn
Peterson, Aleta Naybakke, Eva Watson, Lani Clark,
Joan Wadle, Brenda Brooks, Rosie Zentner, (Crystal
Mitchell) Jan Wilhite, and Betty Copas.
Rosie Zentner read “Too Much Time on My Hands”
while Marilyn Peterson provided background music.
As the old board retired, the new board assumed its
duties, headed by Lyn Carrell as president. There
were two important pieces of business discussed: (1)
the date for the winter craft, patio and bake sales
was changed to Saturday, December 3, and (2) it
was asked that some consideration be given on how
to efficiently donate the monies raised. Several
ideas were discussed and will be investigated over
the summer.
Also, chairmen are needed for both the January and
February luncheons and some of the memorials
during the summer months.

Shuffleboard
Thank you, Judy Paxton, for the following report: Our annual round robin shuffleboard tournament took
place this season on March 16 with 28 intrepid players participating. It was great fun and spiced up with
a superb luncheon organized by Judy Verhulst and Heather Bruni. After lunch, the toilet bowl trophy for
first player to be knocked out with the lowest score, was awarded to Cliff and Joan Wadle’s son, Gary for
“Winner of Crappiest Performance”...all in good fun!
The tournament then resumed until all players were knocked out, leaving Lowell Klatt declared as Champion
and Merlin Koenig as runner up.
A big thank you to Mel Verhulst for organizing and staging this event and to all who assisted him. And to
all the players who helped prepare the sheets throughout the season. As they say...”Many hands make light
work.”
Due to an unexpected early departure last season by 2 of our players, we were unable to honor a particular
accomplishment appropriately at last year’s annual luncheon. So, at the beginning of this season we were
able to rectify the deed. Therefore, as the result of an outstanding score margin of “99" by Mario Bruni
and “-10" by Pat Yuill (something never before accomplished here in the past several years!), it was decided
that this must be recorded into the history of Fountain East Shufflers and duly recognized.
So, with that in mind, Mario was called forth and crowned “DUKE OF DISCS,” complete with gold foil crown,
and Pat was honored with the noble title of “THE PATSY” and appropriately crowned with a Jester’s
hat...again...all in good fun. This event spurred the inaugural launching of the Toilet Bowl Trophy for this
year, and Pat graciously donated her Jester’s hap to the recipient, Gary Wadle, in order that he feel the
weight of his momentous honor. Way to go, Gary!! And who will it be next year????

The final evening of entertainment was on
Thursday, March 31. “The Freddie & Sheila
Show” provided the audience with world-class
guitar picking and fantastic vocals. Over 90
residents enjoyed this show.
We thank Carole Burrows and Connie Aagard
for all the excellent entertainment we have had
this year. If you missed any of the
performances, you missed some wonderful
evenings. Watch for more information about
what and who will be coming to our park next
year.
On April 2, Tracy and Mike Nicholson hosted their 4th annual Fish Fry. 100+ residents enjoyed the baked-
on-the-barbeque salmon, deep-fried salmon and fried shrimp as well as a huge pot of moose chili. Ah, a
taste of Alaska! There were tables of salads, hot dishes and desserts to go with the fish, all provided by
the residents. We thank Tracy and Mike and their efficient, hard-working crew for a wonderful afternoon.

No event in this park takes place without the dedication, supervision, and help of our residents. Many of thoseresidents volunteer over and over again, and although they are willing to work for and with you in order that weall have the kind of activities we want, sometimes new blood is needed....asked for. Bearing that in mind, please consider stepping forward when the call for help goes out. You may volunteer as part of the group orstep forward to chair an event.
Those who have been in charge of these activities are asking for a new chairman:
