    Lower jaw moves only up and down and they have longcanine teeth .

    7 families .they are

    Felidae includes large cats like tiger, lion

    Viveridae-includes civets

    Hyaenidae- includes hyena

    Canidae include dog, fox,wolf

    Ursidae include bear(sloth bear, brown bear , himalayanblack bear)

    Ailuropodidae includes red panda ,gaint panda

    Mustelidae include otter

    FAMILY:- FELIDAE

    It includes large cats with 37 species.

    They have 5 toes on the forefeet and 4 toes on hindfeet.

    Their mouth parts are specially adapted for flesheating.

    Cats are endowed with camouflage colouration, sharpclaws that are usually retractable, and eat meat almostexclusively.

    Their limbs are adapted to strike and hold down theprey.

    They include Lion, Tiger, Panther, Leopard & Wild cats.

    Lion

    Panthera leo- (Scientific Name)

    They are only cats that hunt in group, consistingmostly of female.

    They are more social animal. Distribution- Initially Lions were seen all around

    Narmada River in Gujarat, M.P., Rajasthan, butnow they are present only in Sassan Gir forest,

    Jamnagar, Gujarat. They can be identified by presence of long hairy

    mane and long brush at the tip of the tail.

    Tiger

    Panthera tigris- (Bagh, Kaduwa)

    Indian Tiger is a rich colour well striped animal

    with a short coat. Tiger project launched in 1 -4-1972

    They are distributed in 25 nation park in india.

    Panthera pards (tendua/pulli poolie)

    Bright fulvous [reddish yellow ] coat marked

    with small close set black rosette They are able to live ant where in any

    condition ,they are not restricted to forest but

    they are seen open as well

    The leopard is more dangerous than tiger and

    lion.

    A civet is with long body , short in limb ,

    elongated head ,pointed mouth They are not totally depends upon hunting but

    some of them can eat vegetable

    Majority of civet are nocturnal animal Stink-gland and different types of body color

    are defense mechanism
