Faced with a cusp fractured below the gingiva?

Prepping too far under the gingiva and not getting predictable impressions?

Planning esthetic restorations in the anterior and facing uneven tissue or a "Gummy Smile?

Crown extension is one of the most commonly required procedures in restorative dentistry, yet it is often underutilized. Enjoy an in-depth look at the evidence-based concepts and practical applications for Clinical Crown Lengthening and learn how to enhance predictability for your restorations and impressions. Gain the peace of mind that you are current in your treatment planning choices. Techniques are discussed for both Functional and Esthetic Crown Lengthening, including: how to handle hard and soft tissues; proper surgical techniques; preservation of esthetics in the final tissue contours; and relocation of all structures that comprise the biologic width, namely: sulcus, junctional epithelium, connective tissue fibers, and bone.

This course includes hands-on exercises and many case illustrations, plus two video demonstrations of surgical technique. The full day workshop offers the opportunity to practice these procedures on pig jaws and anatomically correct models. The workshop is suitable for clinicians with or without surgical experience, who want to do some or most of their own crown extensions or just want to know more about the subject.

How to make predictable impressions every time

Why crowns come loose and how to prevent it

Methods that save chair time and increase profit

Causes of red gum tissue around margins

How to diagnose esthetic crown lengthening

To understand the Gummy Smile

How to coordinate surgery with restorative procedures

Workshop participants receive a workbook detailing the procedures.

Enhancing Restorative Results:

Soft Tissue Grafting

[email protected] 602-390-2229 www.JamesKohner.com

Embarrassed by recession around a

recently placed crown in the esthetic zone?

Faced with exposed roots that are` esthetically undesirable or sensitive?

Learn evidence-based solutions for the soft tissue challenges you face on a daily basis, and how to cover those exposed roots and predictably stop recession. In this workshop, methods are illustrated to solve those problems and enhance your restorative results. Gain peace of mind knowing the gingiva stays in place by the margins of newly placed esthetic crowns.

Participants will experience an in-depth look at the concepts and practical applications for both Free Gingival and Connective Tissue Grafts.

Gingival Grafts create zones of attached gingiva where neither root coverage nor esthetics are factors. They provide a predictable way to stop recession from progressing.

Connective Tissue Grafts are useful for total root coverage in cases of severe recession, especially in the maxilla where esthetics are important.

The full day workshop offers the opportunity to practice both procedures on pig jaws. This workshop is for dentists who want to offer soft tissue grafting or learn more about enhancing esthetic restorative results. The course includes hands-on exercises and many case illustrations, plus two surgical videos of the grafting procedure will be shown. Participants will learn: • Diagnostic criteria for each graft • To gain root coverage • To predictably stop recession, or to prevent it in the esthetic zone • Step-by-step harvesting, placing and suturing • Step-by-step use of specialized instruments

Workshop participants receive a workbook detailing the procedures.

Minimally Invasive Anti-Microbial Treatment

Beating Up on Periodontal Disease

[email protected] 602-390-2229 www.JamesKohner.com

Frustrated with recurring Periodontal Disease

in treated cases? Want an evidence based approach with predictable results?

This presentation will discuss a scientifically sound, and evidence based, approach for effective control of moderate to advanced

periodontal disease using minimally invasive surgical approaches, as well as non-surgical intervention such as scaling and root planning and no surgery at all. Both indications will be explained. It shows how adding chemotherapeutic methods to specifically target the periodontal bacteria will allow for successful management of very advanced cases that might otherwise have been treated only with extraction. In doing so, results will be improved over classic surgical methods which may not kill all bacteria at the diseased sites. Clinicians will learn a safe, economical and predictable means for treating, and maintaining, moderate to severe periodontitis. These innovative methods will be explained by outlining both in-office procedures, as well as specific anti-microbial procedures for the patient to do at home. When combined, they yield predictable clinical results for previously failing cases or advanced cases treated for the first time. There will be an emphasis on simplified oral hygiene methods for patient care at home with the intention that compliance will increase. Treatment will be illustrated with clinical photos and radiographs, plus a veterinary application in dogs that also shows excellent results. Cases will be shown and literature quoted to validate the procedures. Participants will learn: • Why Periodontal Surgery or SCRP fails • To manage failed or failing cases with a degree of confidence • To improve diagnostics with bacterial culturing • Simplified methods for patient care at home as an integral part of treatment • To accurately select antibiotics instead of guessing

Suitable for both Doctors and Hygienists Can be presented as a 1 – 3 hour lecture

Includes Phase Contrast Microscopic videos of periodontal pathogens

surgical Solutions

Feeling helpless when a well treated periodontal case relapses?

Mad at the patient because they are not flossing enough?

This course may offer solutions.

This is NOT your basic old school approach to Periodontal Disease. We will focus on different ways to both treat and control periodontal disease from minimally invasive to full flap approaches. And you will learn some simplified methods for patient self care at home where they may actually be compliant! Come see why some 5 mm pockets should be treated and some should be maintained!

This hands-on course will clarify diagnosis and treatment planning to help general practitioners feel comfortable with different kinds of treatments, and the potential for success of these approaches, whether you choose to do some of it or refer it out. It will focus on also being able to diagnose contributory factors and offer suggestions for ongoing maintenance care and patient care at home. This course includes multiple hands-on exercises and many case illustrations, plus two video demonstrations of surgical technique. The full day workshop offers the opportunity to practice these procedures on pig jaws and anatomically correct models to do both osseous reduction as well as bone grafting. The course is designed to increase diagnostic and treatment planning skills plus offer patients long term success. Participants will learn: • Treatment choices – from non-surgical to surgical • Long term maintenance care • Minimally invasive antimicrobial methods • The role of occlusion in causing and controlling disease • Simplified self care for patients at home • To diagnose and treat osseous defects • Bone grafting – products and membranes

Workshop participants receive a workbook detailing the procedures.
