TEI of PiraeusGeneral Information TEI-Piraeus is located in Athens-Egaleo, in the historic

district of Elaionas (the Olivier of Athens). It is claimed by archaeologists that this was the location of the Academy of Plato in ancient Athens.

TEI-Piraeus was established in 1983.

Students are accepted to study in TEI-Piraeus through national ranking examinations after having completed secondary education.

TEI-Piraeus offers both theoretical and practical education in undergraduate (BA / BSc) and graduate (MSc) level.

Research is a major activity enhanced by our interaction with the productive forces of the society and the economy.

Enrollment of about 160 new students per year – total enrollment of about 1000 students.

Current academic staff of 25 tenured professors and about 25 adjunct professors.

Major fields of interest: Telecommunications, Computer Systems & Data Networks, Analogue and Digital Systems, Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Audio & Video Technology, Advanced Materials for Electronics Apps, Electromagnetism, Antennae & Propagation, etc.

Page 10: Presentation by Maria Rangoussi , Dean, Faculty of Engineering ( mariar@teipir.gr )

Undergraduate curriculum of about 40 subjects (75% of them include mandatory laboratory hours).

Regularly updated to keep up with new science and technology facts (1998, 2003, 2008, …)

Undergraduate studies are interlaced with the electronics industry and services sector. The students are obliged to a six months placement for practical training before graduation.

Active role in two graduate courses:1. MSc in “Networking and Data Communication” (in

collaboration with Kingston University, London, UK,2. MSc in “ICT for Education”, in collaboration with

National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece.

All academic staff members are active in building international relations through staff and student exchange and mobility programs, (ERASMUS, TEMPUS, LEONARDO, COST, etc.)

TEI of PiraeusDepartment of Electronics Eng.Research Policy aiming towards

Major and “classic” areas of electronics (electronic devices and systems, measurements and E/M radiation, industrial electronics, telecommunications and computer networks: mobile / satellite / wireless / optical, audio and video processing and broadcasting systems, multimedia networking),

Emerging areas of contemporary research interest, which constitute fields of cross-disciplinary cooperation, such as organic electronics, wearable electronics, multifunctional materials and electronics, electronics for the environment and for renewable energy sources, etc.,

The research topic of ICT for Education, which is a field of interest across disciplines.
