Energy Drink & Alcohol & American Youth

• The more alcohol ads young people see, the more they drink. Communities with more alcohol ads have higher levels of youth drinking. Each additional dollar alcohol companies spend on advertising raises the number of drinks youth consume by three percent. 1

•  Despite the alcohol industry's self-imposed regulation banning advertising in media whose youth audience is more than 30 percent, 25 alcohol brands spent millions

of dollars in 2004 on ads that violated this 30 percent cap. 2

Energy Drinks Mixed with Alcohol

Page 17: Presentation By: Carey Bell, Vicki Choy, Tammie Hundley, Sean Ramirez, and Mariah Ramirez

Students with Adderall ◦ Students take a mix of Adderall and Energy drinks can

improve focus while maintaining wakefulness. The mix allows the student to stay focused on their studies longer. The long term affect is yet unknown. This area of concern is still very young within the scientific community of study. Time will tell.

Learning and Energy Drinks ◦ As a mild stimulant, caffeine arouses cognitive thinking

skills by speeding up the heart rate, improving breathing, and increasing blood flow. Since the brain is more active and you are less apt to feel fatigued after consuming caffeine, such alertness creates the ability to remember better and with sharper accuracy.
