An Emerging Paradigm
Network on Chip (Noc) is an approach to designing the communication subsystem between IP Cores in a System on Chip (SoC)
IOxOS Technologies adopted this emerging paradigm in order to integrate its own IP Core library with custom applications inside a single FPGA, connecting all these elements through a full-mesh non-blocking switch optimized for PCI Express packet transactions
The result is called TOSCA, an FPGA Design Kit which allows the end user to integrate its own application within a high performance PCI Express architecture

How to avoid certification pitfalls of SoC embedding the HRMS: ➢ Availability of all data required for the integration into a DO-254 compliant complex component
➢ HRMS set of instructions guarantees a deterministic behavior:
✔ No interrupt support to ensure a sequential operation
✔ No subroutines (no stack pointer support)
➢ This deterministic behavior allows the simulation of the micro-coded function by means of commercial VHDL simulators:
✔ Total access to all HRMS resources → Full visibility and enhance debugging
✔ For DAL A and B applications, elemental analysis can be carried out by using code coverage metrics performed by the VHDL simulator, assessing the HRMS VHDL code exercised by the micro-coded function
✔ Specific applications with a static micro-code (i.e. avionic protocol handling) may not require DO-178B compliance → HRMS + micro-code = Large Finite State Machine
✔ No specific SoC development tool needed → Standard tool assessment and qualification
