PREFACE The present publication of “Statistical Handbook, Mizoram 2012” is the 19 th (nineteenth) in the series. It presents in a concise form the important statistical data relating to the various sectors of the economy of Mizoram. Data presented in this publication were collected from various departments, organizations and other official document publications. In order to make the publication more useful and also to fulfill the ever increasing demand for reliable data about the socio-economic development taking place in the state, all possible efforts have been made to incorporate the latest available data covering the last two years, i.e. 2010-11 and 2011-12 in this handbook. It is hoped that the data contained in this publication will be found useful to administrators, planners, research scholars, tourists, the general public and other users who are in need of information in Mizoram’s economic progress and development. I am grateful to all the concerned departments, organizations and other private agencies for their cooperation in providing/making requisite information for incorporation in this publication. The Officers, Staff of Technical Section and Computer Operators of this Directorate had done the collection of data, compilation and data entry. I acknowledge and appreciate the immense effort rendered by them in bringing out the work presented here. In our endeavour to improve the quality of the publication in future issues, all suggestions are most welcome. ( SAIHLIRA ) Director Economics & Statistics Mizoram : Aizawl.
