Can ye olde Sloppy Joe Adventure Crew save the day? ABOUT THE PLAYHOUSE SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS: Our classes are designed to develop skills for the stage and foster individual artists. Students are challenged in new and exciting ways that strengthen acting, dance, and voice techniques such as projection, character choices, and self-confidence. Personal development skills like collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving are also modeled through class exercises and training. We recommend continued participation year-round. Much like sports, it’s important in arts training to consistently practice and advance skills to be ready to take on roles offered at the Playhouse. The School of Performing Arts is led by Amber Burns, Artistic Director of the Family Theatre, and her roster of professional teaching artists. (for the serious budding artist) This program is for students seeking high-level training to advance a full spectrum of performance skills in acting, voice and dance. AGES 13-18 Advanced Teen Acting Saturdays, February 29-May 2 from 1:00-2:30pm Students will be assigned monologues and acting scenes with emphasis on scene analysis, character development, and motivation connecting emotional content with physical and vocal techniques. With hands-on, individualized coaching and direction from instructor/director Julie Ahasay, participants will work on a One-Act play from start to finish, working on foundations in casting, blocking, character choices and performing.
