Background

Increasing numbers of students, trainees, and

volunteers participate in global health learning

experiences.

When working and learning in other countries,

safety and cultural sensitivity are paramount.

Despite increased interest and participation,

most students report inadequate pre-departure

training. (AAMC Survey 2015)

Without proper preparation, unfortunate events

can and do occur.

Goal for Today

Present to you two complementary series of

online courses that can help trainees prepare

for safe and effective global health learning

experiences

Discuss other resources for pre-departure

training and preparation.
