We will have a separate information session for people interested
Note – you must meet other requires such as GPA and completing one direct practice placement.
3. MatchingSocial Work is a generalist degree and student placements focus on learning requirements and broad areas of interest
Complex process that requires consideration of multiple factors including:• all students learning needs• individual circumstances • availability of placement opportunities• requirement for one placement with AASW qualified
supervisor
3. Matching cont.• Not allowed to arrange own placement UNLESS specific
circumstances and prior approval – email a request to psw field education
• A matter of equity as we match nearly 300 students to a pool of placements
• Also there are University and individual requirements that must be met
• We ask agencies not to agree to privately arranged placements
• Main consideration – is this an existing placement? If it is then we will not approve a self-arranged placement
3. Matching cont. What happens behind the scenes in the matching process?
4. Agency Interview process
• You will receive an email confirming your provisional match.
• Contact the agency within the required time and advise Field Education.
• Prepare by thoroughly researching the organisation.
4. Agency Interview process
• Take your updated resume and other documents to the interview (including insurance and placement contact details form)
• You need to find your DCSI documents and Child Safe certificate
• Let us know the outcome of the interview as soon as possible
4. Agency Interview process
• As we are placing a large number of students rejecting a placement offer without a good reason will mean you are not re-matched until the end of the matching process.
• Good reasons include;• Information which was unknown to you at
the time of matching and affects your ability to do a certain type of placement
• Sudden ill-health or a severe family crisis
