Attendance directly affects funding

for PVA.

Official attendance is taken at

9:00am.

Students arriving after 7:50 are

tardy and must obtain a tardy slip

from Ms. Stovey or Mrs. Norman.

After 8:05 the student is marked

absent even if in class.

Students must sign out in the front

office if leaving campus during the

day.

Student drivers should not park in

the student lots if planning on

leaving during the day.

E Absences

and

Credit

Excessive absences can result in

loss of credit, attendance

probation and release from

HSPVA.

Excused absences do not count

towards loss of credit.

Absence notes must be brought

to Ms. Norman within 3 days of

the student’s return to school for

absences to be excused. This is

HISD Policy.

Notes must include:

› Printed Name of Student

› Reason for absence

› Parent Signature

› Verification phone number

Students may not have ANY type of

medication in their possession at

school.

Parents may only leave medication

with the nurse that is prescribed by a

doctor to be taken during the day.

All medication must be in a labeled

prescription bottle including over-the-

counter medications.

Parents should communicate with the nurse regarding student’s with medical

conditions such as asthma, seizures,

diabetes or other medical issues.

If sick, students should not phone their

parents from their cell phones to come pick them up from school…these calls

should be placed from the nurse’s

office.

NHS is not based solely on

academic performance.

Juniors and Seniors with a 4.0 in their

academic classes only will be

that parents and

these steps when

addressing

classroom

concerns

1. The student initiates a

conversation with the teacher to

try to address the concern

independently.

2. If the issue is not resolved, the

parent contacts the teacher

directly to develop a plan to

address the problem.

3. If the parent and teacher plan

fails to achieve the desired result,

the parent should then contact

the counselor to arrange a

meeting with the AP, counselor,

student and teacher to address

the concern.
