Youth Ministry Newsletter – June 2020 Congratulations! June ultimately comes from the Latin Iunius, “of Juno (Iuno),” referring to the Roman goddess. You might better recognize her Greek counterpart, Hera. Like Hera, Juno was the queen of gods and goddess of marriage, childbirth and fertility. The name Iuno itself appears to come from the Latin iuventas, “youth,” which is related to words like juvenile and rejuvenate . It seems fitting this year, that graduation for most of our seniors is in June. They are juveniles and they are in need of rejuvenation…We all are in need of rejuvenation. At first this “stay at home” order seemed to do just that- slow us down and give us a little rest. Now it has drug on for longer than most of us would have anticipated. We are starting to get weary again. It seems too much of the same thing wears us out. Our graduates know this, and they are mostly ready for something new. A new school, maybe a new job, or a whole new direction. We are proud of what they have accomplished and pray that as they move toward the “new” that they remember the foundation of our faith, our baptism. It is there to be constant, yet it reminds us that we are new every day because of what Christ has done for us! I pray we all remember this and it gives us rejuvenation each day to take on whatever the day holds!

Congratulations!

June ultimately comes from the Latin Iunius, “of Juno (Iuno),” referring to the Roman goddess. You might better recognize her Greek counterpart, Hera. Like Hera, Juno was the queen of gods and goddess of marriage, childbirth and fertility. The name Iuno itself appears to come from the Latin iuventas, “youth,” which is related to words like juvenileand rejuvenate.

I pray we all remember thisand it gives us rejuvenation each day to take on whatever the day holds!

Come get some sunshine and spring air in the Texas Hill Country! We are offering self-facilitated weekend adventures for families and individuals. Come jump in the river, get a line wet, huck a disc, or just take a hike to a beautiful spot in the woods. We are inviting people to get outside away from the

city to enjoy some socially distant adventure! You may camp or rent a room for your weekend getaway at the headwaters of the Nueces River!

Here is Camp Eagle’s play safe approach to COVID-19!

Abba Father,

I thank You for the health and safety You have granted us so far. This pandemic has messed up so many things, yet in the midst of it there You are working even this for our good. Help us to see You moving and acting on our behalf. We thank You for the good You have already brought, the closer family relationships, the temptations that have not happened, and the extra time we have to spend with You.

As we re-emerge from our isolations, help us to gather safely and remember that not everyone has the same attitude toward this threat that we do. Help us to respect each other’s personal space and help us to still connect in less-than-desirable circumstances.

I miss our youth so much, I miss the joy they add to my life, the education they give me on this new generation and the society we live in. I miss seeing them minster to each other and the smiles, joy and laughter that come when they are all together. I am saddened that Satan has used this time to separate some youth from us. I pray that we become expert bridgebuilders to help the Holy Spirit bring them back into fellowship with us and You! I pray for the relationships of the youth: for their relationships with their families, with friends, and with others. Those relationships are so easily strained at this time. Please soften hearts toward each other and help forgiveness to be generously given.

Lord, there are many decisions that still need to be made in the future, and I need Your wisdom to make them. Help me see the best direction with our partnership with Camp Eagle, with our summer confirmation time, and with our guidelines for when we are able to gather together… cautiously at first, and then in full. I thank You for your grace and for being with us this whole time, and I thank You that You will never leave us!

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen
