The University is renowned for its leading edge research across a wide range of areas including marine and environmental science; medicine, health and community; robotics and psychology; innovation and culture; pedagogy, policy and sustainability; and nearly two-thirds of its submission to the most recent Research Excellence Framework was rated as ‘world leading’ or of ‘international quality’. The University is ranked in the Research Fortnight Power League top 50 and is a member of doctoral training consortia recognised and funded by national research councils.

Whether you are interested in a taught masters programme, or wish to undertake a research degree or professional doctorate, we are passionate about creating a vibrant academic culture both for and with our postgraduate students. We understand that people embark on postgraduate study for a wide variety of reasons, including career development and enhancement, passion and curiosity for their subject and for personal fulfilment.

Whatever your motivation or ambition, our postgraduate programmes are underpinned by excellent facilities and resources and the expertise and enthusiasm of our world-leading researchers, who will be on hand to support and supervise you. Our dedicated Doctoral College assists all students in ensuring that they are intellectually challenged and supported in equal measure.
