ELISAVA - Postgraduate in Digital Modelling for Automotive Industry and Product- 2

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN DIGITAL MODELLING FOR AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY AND PRODUCT

Start date: SeptemberECTS credits: 35 (250 learning hours and 750 supervised work hours)Language: SpanishQualification: Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Modelling, from the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and ELISAVA School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona.Hours: from Tuesday to Friday, from 5 to 9.15 pm

COURSE LEADER

JOSEP Mª MONTSENY IGLESIASArchitect by the Escola Tècnica Superior

d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (UPC) with

a wide teaching experience: since 2005

until 2011 he was the director of the

Master’s Degree in Design of Transportation

Vehicles and, since 2005 until now,

director of the Postgraduate Diploma in

Digital Modelling for Self-propulsion and

Product at ELISAVA Barcelona School of

Design and Engineering. Furthermore, he

currently collaborates as a teacher in the

Master’s Degree in Business Direction and

Management (MBA) at the URV.

Josep Mª Montseny has a wide professional

experience of more than 20 years in the

vehicle design and engineering field, he has

stood out as a Surface Designer and with

the management of people and projects.

AIMED AT

• Graduates in Design

• Engineers and technical engineers

• Architects

• Designers

• Professionals or academics with proven

experience in various related fields

INTERNSHIPS

This course enables all its students to enjoy

of in-company internships once the pro-

gramme is successfully completed.

PRESENTATION

Real-time digital modelling allows creating

a virtual project from concept to production.

Surface design allows designers to define

the form following pre-specified technical

and aesthetic inputs. Then the model can

be depicted digitally with digital rendering or

animation, and also with a physical model.

And finally, the product is made.

This process is very interesting applied to

the product design, automotive design and

architecture sectors.

The programme focuses strongly on surface

design and real-time digital representation

using the latest software such as Autodesk

ALIAS, ICEMSURF, Autodesk MAYA, etc.

The wide experience of this course, of 250

in-class hours and 750 supervised work

hours, enables all its students to enjoy com-

pany internships once the programme is

finished. This fact enables the students that

have carried out this programme to work

in the present in automation and engineer-

ing companies from all around the world

such as SEAT, AUDI, BMW and PSA group,

amongst others.

COURSE AIMS

The main objectives of this programme are:

• To train specialists in digital modelling

and rendering —geared toward sectors

such as product design, automotive and

architecture— capable of applying the

expertise gained in actual projects.

• To offer comprehensive training in digital

modelling and rendering strategies

and tools.

• To give students a real-life experience of

the work world through direct collabora-

tion with companies.
