Bright Club

MARCH 7th

Are academics funny?

Do you want to engage with the public around your research or subject? Would public speaking skills benefit you and your engaged research (answer - yes they will)?

Bright Club Guildford, hosted by University of Surrey is a fun and friendly way of getting yourself out of the campus bubble and out in the public locally and maybe nationally. Bright Club is a national initiative, emanating from UCL originally, but now resident at many University’s and their home towns/cities. It’s described as the thinking person’s comedy night where researchers and academics become comedians for just one night(or maybe more if they enjoy it). Doesn’t matter if you are in your first month of PHD or your final year before retirement, we’d love you to take part.

Our next gig is on 7th March at the Boileroom in Guildford. Audience is small and perfectly formed (around 70 usually) and very friendly. Friends, colleagues and family always welcome and do tend to come to support.

NO OBLIGATION TRAINING- February 7th 1-2pm in RDP training room

If you are interested please do drop Ross Kelway, (one of our 2) Public Engagement Manager at theUniversity an email [email protected]

The winner from the University of Surrey will be entered into the national semi-final competition. The University of Surrey finals will be held on 9th May 2018. PGRs -please check your emails in the coming weeks for further information about how to enter. Find out more.
