Vision of the PGDM-MM ProgramTo develop successful marketing professionals with business acumen to deliver exceptional value to their customers, employers and society, and to further the practice of marketing through academic and professional commitment.

I am pleased to welcome you to Indian Institute of Plantation Management Bengaluru (IIPMB). IIPMB has served as the nation’s flagship comprehensive institution for higher education since 1993, and has been acknowledged as a leading centre of excellence for holistic management education for current and aspiring managers. The institute offers super specialized courses and research in the areas of general management, agri-business, and food processing delivered through advanced techno-managerial inputs, entrepreneurship, export orientation, and global outlook, relevant across a business value chain. At IIPMB, we focus on imparting key marketing concepts and strategies to our students and industry participants to create a sustainable business and delight customers. We also believe that a successful marketing manager needs to have thorough insights in general management principles and practices. Hence our Master’s Program in Marketing Management is rooted in contemporary themes and issues relevant to the creation of an industry-ready General Manager.

As a student of the program you will be provided with well-grounded inputs in critical aspects of marketing management, from customer behavior research to digitally connecting with them, from need recognition to new value development, from business analytics to business modelling, and from cost structuring to revenue generation. Additionally, you can choose from a basket of marketing specializations that cut across a variety of industries. The curriculum of the PGDM-MM program has been designed meticulously with inputs from industry specialists, and is delivered in partnership with them. The program builds on the connections between different fields of knowledge “FOCUSED ON GENERAL MANAGEMENT” to train prospective decision-makers in facing real management problems both in national and international contexts and diverse industrial settings.

I invite you to our campus to explore further scope with our faculty and students on limitless opportunities that make IIPMB, a truly special place.

Message from the

Director

Program ObjectiveslTo produce general management graduates with reduced training requirement for ROLE performance on recruitment

lCreate and execute a curriculum and processes that assureKnowledge, Skills & Competencies required for a Marketing Manager’s ROLE

Our GenesisIIPM set up at the initiative of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is the only world renowned academic institution to offer post-graduate programs in agribusiness, plantations, food and general management. IIPM’s mandate is to create a unique pool of talented professionals in the identified domain and provide career advancement opportunities to its students.

Program HighlightslFocus on interdisciplinary aspects in

management for holistic understanding

lSpecialization in Marketing in contemporary businesses, products and services (e.g.,

lifestyle, e-commerce and healthcare)

l Special focus on Exports

lPartnerships with leading foreign management institutes that offers exchange opportunities and foreign internship

lIntrapreneurship focused courses by leveraging the “IIPMB” way of doing things

lIndustry experts to co-teach and co-mentor the students through the program

lUnique experience-centered pedagogy (e.g., usage of live case studies and on-site projects)

lOpportunity to start own enterprise on completion of the 2-year, if placement is not sought

About PGDM-MMOver the years, PGDM programs offered by various institutes have typically focused on creatinghyper-specialists. As a result, there is a dearth of managerial personnel who exhibit acumen to understand business holistically from the global, national, industry and organizational perspective. Discussions with various industry stakeholders reveal that there is a felt need for a manager who combines general management skills with domain knowledge, and attitude towards the work at hand. In the current day scenario, where the environment is changing at a rapid pace, institutes need to equip marketing professionals with strong communication (verbal, written and presentation), and interpersonal skills, ability to analyze data and come up with meaningful inferences, and a capability to understand marketing issues in a canvas stretching from the global to the local.

The 2-year PGDM-MM program of IIPMB is unique in design and provides a well-grounded curriculum integrating key aspects of Marketing with General Management knowledge and skills. The curriculum focuses on imparting cross-functional working knowledge, with ability and potential to apply knowledge gained, familiarity and awareness of export markets; indepth knowledge in services domain; and entrepreneurial orientation in a corporate context with stress on innovation.
