Position overviewThe Manager, Financial Services position is responsible for developing and managing the Institute’s budget, developing and analysing financial reports for Executive Management, developing and implementing systems and processes to support best practice protocols, and enhancing financial knowledge across the Institute through the provision of sound financial advice.

Key responsibilities1. Develop and manage the Institute’s budget.

2. Develop customised financial reporting including performance reporting, forecasts, trend analysis, and financial modelling at both operational and executive levels.

3. Enhance financial knowledge and accountability throughout the Institute through the provision of sound financial advice and development of systems and processes to support best practice protocols.

4. Develop and strengthen effective collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders of the Institute to maximise outcomes.

5. Development of business improvement strategies focusing on reporting and systems.

Essential Selection Criteria1. Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in accountancy, economics, commerce, finance or

a related discipline and completion or nearing completion towards full membership of a recognised Australian accounting body (i.e. CPA or CA).

2. Extensive experience in budget management, financial management, financial reporting creation and analysis, financial modelling, and forecasting, at an executive level.

3. Demonstrated thorough knowledge in the use of the Government Accounting System (GAS) or a similar accounting system, and Microsoft Office applications, in particular experience of Microsoft Excel at an advance level.

4. High level experience in the development and implementation of financial management policies.

5. High level interpersonal skills including proven ability to communicate clearly, negotiate persuasively, facilitate and express ideas clearly and coherently, both orally and in writing, and influence key stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.

6. Sound leadership skills including the management, training and motivation of staff. Role models collaborative behaviour and displays a strong work ethic and resilience.

7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high performing, customer focused, culturally diverse environment as a well a proven ability to operate independent to produce high quality work within tight timeframes.

8. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively within the social, political and cultural environments of Indigenous Australian communities and organisations, and to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous Australians, including adult students and community members.

9. Possess a Current criminal history check or the ability to obtain one.

10. Possess a current NT OCHRE Card or the ability to obtain one.

11. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures

Desirable Selection Criteria1. Relevant experience within an Indigenous Australian organisation and/or an Education Institute and/or

a similar complex entity.
