Although the City Center of Ho Chi Minh has a very long shoreline, it does not provide qualified public spaces. Moreover the areas along the Saigon River has been industri-ally exploited for many decades. In refer-ence to the Ho Chi Minh City Master plan the inner-city port facilities will be relocated to southern regions. Furthermore the means of public transportation such as Metro will be constructed. The lack of open spaces

does not offer a transregional connection at the waterfront. According to my idea of “people to the water” those areas will be emerged into an overarching Corniche* in combination with the development of the Ba Son dockyard. The main goal is to build up a newly integrated neighbor-hood based on cultural accommodation and ur-ban living at an exposed position near the Sai-gon River. Therefore the project area is capable to provide a meeting point for the existing Central

Business Districts as well as surrounded areas. In the course of the global climate change the development site is threatened by heat island, urban flooding and environmental pollution. Thus it will be necessary to offer vast eco belts, houses aligned in major wind direction, flooding buffer zones, overhanging shade constructions to the south and to the north. Those measures can only be carried out by an ecological construction catalogue.

DeveloPMent of the village “hironDelles” suPPorteD by the unesco chair of sustainable DeveloPMent for asia & PacificvietnaM, binh thuan Province near Mui ne | area 240ha | builDings 339 | inhabitants average 3.562

electric engine. The energy will be provided by gas and wind turbines. Vast areas of Hiron-delles will be kept as a natual reserve. Due to the topography formed by major winds out of 70° [dry season] and 250° [rain season] the street layout runs along the steep dunes. In contrast to other developments in that region Hirondelles provides public accomodations such as cafes, restaurants, shops, a museum as well as a municipal hall for several event, which is located in the so called market forum.

The Project Site „Hirondelles“ is located 42 km east of Phan Thiet, the capital city of the Binh Thuan Province and 200 km, north-east of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The goal of the Master Plan Hirondelles is to create a Village for Residents, Tourists and Emplo-yees under the strong issues of tropical ar-chitecture and green building design. The key words of the Master Plan Hirondelles are: Keep Nature – Save Water – Save Ener-gy. Hirondelles has approximately a 3.7 km

coast line: 1.2 km sandy beach and 2.5 km sandy – rocky bay beaches containing rocks and cliffs. The area is designed for an average population of approximately 3.562 people = 1.868 dwel-lers, 1.192 employees, 502 guests / residents. An important aim is to build up a multicultu-ral neigborhood for Vietnamese as well as for foreign people, no matter if they are residents and temporary residents, tourists or guests. The entire site is a non fuel operating car & motor-bike area. All vehicles in Hirondelles have an

but leaves space for multifacaeted uses. This stable unit ensures orientation and recogni-tion within the neigbourhood. It serves as a landmark and form an unique identity and a new image for Bayer Schering. Due to a short path network living, working and recreation is reachable and attenadable at any place and time. Instead of applying a site-specific space allocation plan, “Anti - Zoning” will help to distribute demand-oriented land use. Ba-sically everything can happen everywhere.

In 2009 the company Bayer Schering Phar-ma initiated an architectural competition in order to find a new identity for the co-perate headquarter in Berlin. By develop-ing the “Bayer Schering Pharma Quarter” international scientists shall be drawn to the city of Berlin. Bayer Schering Pharma Quarter will be integrated into a develop-ment chain starting from Potsdamer Platz, over the administrative district and Haupt-bahnhof (central station). According to the

spatial concept the so-called “spots of inter-vention” will be implemented on the Bayer Schering Pharma site and will serve as public space as well as emitter for upcoming projects. By appointing those “spots” a step by step de-velopment is being adjusted to the needs of the dwellers. Those “spots” are being defined by their position to existing buildings or by using the leaved-up space of demolished buildings. The “spots of intervention”, the block and the acupunctural point form a stable unit for itself,

The „high-rise cube“ combines the working and living envi-ronment, so that a creative milieu can arise for the scientists. A perfect basis for group work is formed by the direct access from each apartment to the to the working studios. Always four flats are linked to the collaborative studio in reference to the idea of a short path network. The mixed-use block contains restaurants, cafes and superettes in the ground floor, offices in the floors above and apartments in the top floors. This is due to the construction column grid of 7.20 m.

per block and is located at the east of the area. High rise buildings emerge from a common base. It is inspired by the block structure in Manhattan, New York. Furthermore this typol-ogy forms the edge to the adjacent buildings. An advanced development of the traditional Chinese shop house is being created in the residential area. At the eastern part of the area service facilities as well as buildings with com-mercial use will be offered. The western will be dominated by private residential houses.

The project scenario 2025 for Ho Chi Minh City focuses thematically on the develop-ment of a new urban district fulfilling the special functions of a Central Business Dis-trict. The planning area is located in the west of the historic city core. It is bordered by the Kênh Nhiêu Loc Canal in the north & the major street Cach Manh Thang Tam in the south. However, the most important Element is the central station [Ga Saigon]. Therefore the entire area plays an impor-

tant role in the urban context of HCMC. It was the idea to apply the concept of regional development centers on an urban level. The project site will take over the function as a commercial and cultural center. This idea is devided into three development stages: 2010,2015, 2025. Each stage has its own initiator, from which the development is carried on. The con-cept of use focuses on three different types: Of-fice, culture & commercial and living. The office typology is based on the idea of a so-called su-

houses are located on the south side along the Aa. Plots on the west side are detached houses, which is due to the quite environment far away from major roads. The southern edgeof the area has apartment blocks and the northern part serves as a start-up and student neighborhood with small apartments and dor-mitories. Five story buildings with commercial use dominate the entire eastern part. They pro-vide noise protection against the train track but also give a suitable transition to the city center.

Based on the existing open space around Almelo, vast greeneries of north & south, as well as west & east will be connected with each other. The planning estate is located at the intersection of these two connecting chains. Due to this distinctive feature the two axles gain a certain valuation; e.g. the vertical axis opens to a network of squares & parks and the horizontal axis gets em-phasized by a small marina for water activi-ties such as canoing and elevated banks for

recreation along the river Aa. Upon the central public square a former industrial building is be-ing preserved & will provide cafes, exhibitions & serve as a municipal hall for public events. All other homogenously distributed open spaces are individually designed in reference to exist-ing buildings. So that a certain uniqueness and identity for each address within the area can arise. Various typologies such as: row houses, maisonette apartments or roof terraced houseswill be developed. Individuall designed town

for activity will be developed [elements of the fairy tale are used for spatial landscape design] Those activity zones differ in their quality and their use [e.g. reading area, game elements, picnic area, outdoor theater etc.]. At the cen-tral part a Grimm-Center is being constructed out of the conserved buildings. The Center provides space for exhibitions and events dealing with fairy tales of the Grimm Brothers.

The project area is located in Berlin’s district Schöneberg. The derelict area along the Bautzener Street is an important part of the overall North-South green link that will con-nect Tiergarten and Potsdamer Platz to the southern parts of the city. The study site is lo-cated in south of S-Bahn Station Gleisdreieck, which can be reached via the heritage-protected Yorck bridges. The Guidelines for

the two hectare project area have to meet the requirements of certain design expectations, recreation for the dwellers in the neigborhood and the construction of a building in memory of the Grimm Brothers who spent most of their life in Berlin and are buried in a cemetery near the planning area. Starting point for concept is the analysis of Grimm’s fairy tales. Along the major path-way [North-South direction] areas
