Project 1- Tobacco Inspection WarehouseThe Site of the Tobacco Inspection Warehouse is located in the Empire Fulton Ferry Park Sec-tion of Brooklyn Bridge Park on Water Street be-tween Old Dock Street and New Dock Street. The purpose of this project is to create a new quality year-round facility in the Park to house cultural, educational and community uses. The new facili-ty should activate the Park and serve as the home to a new arts organization that will also provide public programming both at the Site and the Park.

I approached the site by using elements from the Brooklyn Bridge as a guide. I wanted to create moments and experiences throughout the ware-house. I developed this idea of a skin pulling from the ground, passing through the programs, and stopping at the Theater. I also thought about the visitors having different levels of views.

Project 2- Precedent Analysis

In the second project, my partner and I were to do a study on the “NYC FD Rescue Compa-ny 3” by Ennead Architects located in Bronx. We were to investigate the component parts of a whole and their relations in making up the whole. We approached this Fire Station by break-ing down the elements that forms the Fire Sta-tion. We saw it as this puzzle. We then thought about the envelope that wraps around the entire building and the reason why the roof is partial-ly open (folded) on the right side allowing nat-ural ventilation and light to enter the spaces.

Project 3- Fire Station

The F.D.N.Y. is modernizing its facilities throughout the Five Boroughs. They designat-ed Brooklyn Heights as an area in need of a new Fire Station. The Site of the new Fire Station is located Southwest of the Tobacco Inspection Warehouse site at the end of Water Street at the corner of Old Fulton Street and Everit Street.

Concept/Models(Midterm Model, Midterm Model Revised, Final Model)/Drawings

I approached the site with this idea of a organ-ic wall curving its way from the Memorial Gar-den and Park through the Fire Station. “Le Mur“ (meaning the Wall) becomes part of the pro-grams. On the two lower levels, there is one ele-ment. Then, on the top two floors, I overlapped the secondary element to strengthen the function of the Wall as the key element of the Fire Station.
