The article in the Washington post was about how there are now 71 seats in

the house open for re-election, and how it is effecting politics in Washington. In the

beginning of the article, the reporter talked about how these openings provide an

opportunity for either the democrats to hold their majority, or the GOP or

republicans to take it away from them. The article later went on describing the

millions of dollars both parties spend on trying to keep their members in and throw

their opponents out. Millions of dollars are spent on TV ads alone in some of the

more fragile states; these states are the real battle ground for both parties to try to

sway the elections one way or the other. At the end of the article there was mention

of the change that could accrue if the democrats lost the majority.

The Unit we are in is about the legislative branch. This article is about how

the many of the seats in the house are up for reelection and how it could completely

change the face of the legislative branch, and totally turn around the current politics.

This article shows how political and bi partisan the legislative branch can be. The

article also displays how the election process in the house of reps works, and it also

displays exactly how much the majority rule effects how our government is run.

The party with the majority rule in the house and senate ultimately decides

all the bills and laws that are past, any change in this majority rule would be a

complete 360 degree revolution in how the legislative branch would vote and these

elections will undoubtedly have a huge effect on the political arena for years to

come. If the republicans gain the majority, many of the bills passed these past years

would likely be revoked and could potentially spell, a complete abandonment of

previous Goals. In this fragile and integral time in the bi centennial career of this

country, this election could vary well determine the future of the United States of

America.

These changes would affect every last one of us and could potentially put the

entire nation in either jeopardy or in a better place. The matters that the legislature

votes on our likely the most important issues in our national society, and there for

there outcome effects us in every way. Health care, and all other social services will

be affected by this upcoming election in a way that has the potential to end the

democratic rein of power in the house and senate
