CHAPTER I : INTRODUCTION Dear user, thank you for downloading the app! This release is the 2017 version of Layertech Pocket

Reviewer and Quizmaker application.

What is Pocket Reviewer? Students sometimes complain about carrying heavy books, disorganized notes and always

photocopying mock exams which costs a lot of paper, money and effort.

Pocket Reviewer Quizmaker is a mobile reviewer which students can take mock quizzes anytime,

anywhere and check their scores too!

Parents and teachers can use this application to MAKE EXAMS for their students or children.

CHAPTER II : USER PROFILE You will be asked to input your name, age and gender on first use after download. DON’T WORRY! This

will NEVER be stored or made public! It just adds a personal touch to your app. Feel free to type

whatever you like!

You can access ALL FEATURES with the sliding menu on the right.

CHAPTER III: MANAGE SUBJECTS Before anything, you must first create SUBJECTS. You can do this in the “Manage Subjects” Section.

Making Subjects Go to the “Manage Subjects” section and click “INSERT NEW SUBJECT.” A dialog (shown below)

should appear. Type your subject name and click “Save Subject.” Your new subject will now

appear on the list, together with the number of questions saved under it.

Deleting Subjects To delete a subject, just click the subject on a list and a pop-up dialog should appear (shown

below). Similarly, when you delete a subject, all RECORDS and SCORES under the subject WILL

BE DELETED.

WARNING!

ALL QUESTIONS SAVED UNDER THE SUBJECT WILL BE DELETED. Be very careful when deleting

subjects. You can try EXPORTING the subject to a CSV file first.

CHAPTER IV: MANAGE QUESTIONS Once you create a subject, you can now put questions under it. There are TWO WAYS to insert

questions. One is via MANUAL INPUT, another is by IMPORTING a .CSV FILE.

Manual Question Input Say, you found this really useful question and you just want to add it to your question list. Just

go to the “Manage Question” section and click “ADD QUESTION.”

A pop-up dialog (shown above left) should appear. Select the category of the question, type the

question, the respective choices AND don’t forget to specify the correct answer! Click the “SAVE

QUESTION” button and your question should now appear on the list (show above right).

Import Question from CSV file If you have bulks of questions, or if you want to share question lists among friends, it is best to

use IMPORT QUESTION feature.

Before you can input, you need to have a couple of things ready:

1. A CSV file named “PR_IMPORT.csv”

2. The file must be placed in the device’s external storage. (NOT INSIDE FOLDERS!)

As an example, the CSV file should look like this:

And place the file to:

My Computer > *device name* > *external storage* > PR_IMPORT.CSV

Once you’ve placed the correct file in the correct location, go to the “Manage Questions”

section and click the “IMPORT/EXPORT QUESTION” button. A dialog (shown below) should

appear. Click “IMPORT from CSV” and it’s done! A message should appear that the import is

successful.

WARNING!

Please DO NOT LEAVE the _ID column BLANK!

Make sure that the _ID column is UNIQUE!

You can make up random numbers, just make sure it is UNIQUE!

Put the CORRECT ANSWER on the answer COLUMN (NOT THE LETTER)

Put a category that is ALREADY EXISTING in your app.

The Subjects are CASE SENSITIVE. Please be careful.

Exporting Questions You can also export questions into CSV files. To do so, go to the “Manage Questions” section

and click the “IMPORT/EXPORT QUESTIONS” Button.

Select the category you wish to export and click “EXPORT TO CSV” button. The app will prompt

you if the export is successful.

Where is the Exported File? The exported file is located on the SAME DIRECTORY as the INPUT FILE. The exported file is

labelled: PR_EXPORT.CSV

WARNING!

When you export quizzes, the previous file will be OVERWRITTEN. Make sure to SAVE your

Exported file to another folder / another filename/ another location / in your laptop or PC to

avoid being overwritten!

Deleting Questions You can either delete questions one by one OR, delete all questions under a category. Either

way, go to “Manage Questions” section.

To delete a specific question, select the category/subject it belongs to. Then, click that question.

A dialog will prompt you if you are sure (shown above).

CANNOT FIND FILES?

Some devices have issues with SD card and memory. If you can’t immediately see exported

files, please try REBOOTING the device before connecting it to your computer

To delete all questions under a category, select the category/subject and click the “DELETE ALL”

button. You will also be prompted if you want to clear entire list.

CHAPTER V: TAKE A QUIZ Take a quiz and test your knowledge!

Setting up your Quiz

Go to “Take a Quiz” section and select a subject and specify the time limit. The time limit is in

MINUTES. Once you specify a category and a time limit, click “START QUIZ.”

The quiz will run until your specified time. The choices are randomized, as well as the questions.

The questions will NEVER BE REPEATED in a quiz.

The Quiz will End if:

1. YOU RUN OUT OF TIME

2. You click “FINISH QUIZ”

3. You answered ALL QUESTIONS before time is up.

You will immediately see the results of your quiz.

CHAPTER VI: USER REPORT Check your quiz results and reports!

WARNING!

Before taking a quiz AGAIN, you might want to CLEAR YOUR RECORDS first, in the “USER

REPORT” section. The scores of two quizzes are CUMULATIVE.

Your Quiz Scores In the “User Report” section, you can view your scores in ALL SUBJECTS.

COLOR LEGEND:

YELLOW EXCELLENT!

ORANGE AVERAGE

RED LOWEST RANK

Clearing Records Quiz results are cumulative. Meaning, when you take the same quiz a second time, the results of

the previous test will add up to the current results. Unless you want this kind of set-up, you

should CLEAR RECORDS before taking another quiz.

As shown in the screenshot above, all you have to do is click the subject you want to clear in the

“User Report” section. A dialog will prompt you if you’re sure.

The number of questions, Correct and Wrong answers will return to zero.

TIP!

This feature is perfect for learning foreign languages!

CHAPTER VII: MEMORIZE The memorize feature allows users to create “FLASH CARDS” of terms and their definitions. You can save

these terms under subjects, which you can link in your Quizzes.

CLEARNING THE RESULTS DOES NOT DELETE SUBJECT

If you want to delete a subject, go to the “Manage Subjects” section.

Adding Terms to Memorize First, you have to add terms and their respective definitions. To add terms, click the “Add

TERMS” button. A dialog (shown above) should appear. Select the category/subject the term is

under, type the term, and its definition. Then, click “SAVE TERM.” Done!

Deleting Terms To remove terms, click the “Delete TERMS” button in the “Memorize” section. You will be

redirected to a screen shown below:

Select the subject, and the terms under it will appear in a list. Click the term you want to delete

and choose “Yes” when a dialog pops up. Term gone!

Start Memorize Assuming you really have to get something in your head, and your exam date is getting closer!

Even while sitting in the toilet, you can use your phone to memorize difficult terms!

After you keyed-in your terms, you can now start memorizing!

Select a subject/category and click “Start MEMORIZE” button. A term will be flashed RANDOMLY

as shown above.

Initially, the definition is HIDDEN. That’s for you to find out ;)

To check if you got the definition right, just click “SHOW DEFINITION” button and it will appear

under the term.

You can also do the other way round and put the definitions in the term space. This way, you

can read the definition and you guess the term!
