Welcome
I’m pleased to announce and invite you to be part of PMI UK’s 2013 Synergy event, an Annual
Project Management conference that recognises, celebrates and raises the profile of every Project
Manager.
Synergy is organised almost entirely by volunteers from the UK Chapter of the Project
Management Institute (PMI), the world’s largest project management organisation.
After two years of successful performances and feedback from our attendees and valued
Sponsors, we are planning some exciting changes this year aimed specifically at our sponsors.
The Synergy 2013 theme is “What good looks like and how to achieve it”
750+ attendees are expected at Synergy in 2013. Sponsorship is a great opportunity for you to be

About us
We are the United Kingdom Chapter of the
Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI is
the world’s leading not-for-profit membership
association for the project management
profession with over half a million members.
In 2013, Synergy is expected to be the
biggest event of its kind ever seen in Europe.
We have big plans and in order to realise
these ambitions we need the support of our
partners.
We aim to reach out to every organisation,
industry and individual touched by project
management to invite their participation in
what we fully expect to be a fantastic
experience for all involved.

About Synergy
A Celebration. Synergy will highlight the value of project
management and the impact it can have when put to use
effectively. A number of organisations are currently
seeking to raise the level of professionalism specific to
their project management capability. Synergy is not ‘just
another conference’, in fact it’s not a conference at all,
rather it’s a landmark occasion celebrating the project
management profession. We wish to make the day truly
memorable. We are confident we will be able to offer an
unparalleled bill of speakers from the UK and overseas,
speakers that inspire and truly make us proud to be project
managers.
Inclusive. We want employers, professional bodies,
academic institutions, government and of course
practicing project managers to come together in
recognition of the contribution we make as a
profession. Whilst being organised by the PMI UK
Chapter, we hope to benefit the professional at large. We
truly hope all elements of the profession will wish to
participate. We have made it our business to ensure the
event is as inclusive as possible.
Affordable. Traditionally project management
conferences can be costly affairs running into hundreds if
not thousands of pounds. Synergy ticket prices represent
very good value for money and put the event within reach
of everyone. For us this is not about profit, it’s about
putting something back into the profession of which we are
all a part.
G-local. The fact that the event is part of a wider network
of events ensures a global dimension to the event, so
global. The fact that it is being organised by the UK
Chapter ensures a local flavour, hence ‘G-local’. The
vision is that the event will be a hub for the activities being
organised to celebrate International Project Management
Day .
Unique. The format of the event ensures the audience will
enjoy the day rather than ‘endure’ it. Project management
speakers rub shoulders with inspirational speakers and
CEOs with a passion for Project Management. The mix
creates a powerful synergy.

Taming Tigers by Jim Lawless
Jim is one of the world’s leading
inspirational speakers. In 2003 he
transformed himself from non-riding, unfit
consultant to jockey in 12 months in
response to an audience challenge. In
2010 he broke the British free diving
depth record, becoming the first Briton to
pass the magic 100m barrier.
Innovation by Hamish Taylor
Hamish focuses on enabling
organisations to achieve breakthroughs
by looking outside their current
environment. Processes, product and
people development are all part of this
mix, covering themes such as customer
service, leadership and change. As CEO
achieved major turnarounds at Eurostar
and Sainsbury's Bank.
Dr. James T Brown
Dr. Brown is the author of The Handbook of
Program Management . He has a patent for
a project scheduling methodology, and has
received numerous awards. He has sixteen
years of NASA experience and a recipient of
the “NASA Public Service Medal” for
exceptional contributions to
NASA’s mission.
Mark Langley
Mark A. Langley became PMI’s President
and CEO in December 2010. Throughout
his career, Mr Langley has spent countless
hours demonstrating the value of project
management to practitioners, organisations
and governments as well as collaborating
with volunteer leaders, and working with
communities to advance the profession of
project management.
